They’re adjusting. 

Being torn from the Eye so suddenly had obviously done a number on Jon, as expected. Even Martin was affected; he’s well aware of what was fueling him through that hellscape, though he doesn’t like to acknowledge it. In the immediate aftermath, most days were spent in bed or around a bed, Martin periodically getting up to make sure the both of them ate.

It gets better. Very, very slowly, but it does. Jon can stay conscious for longer than a half hour, he can move from room to room. He’s forgetful, worryingly so, but Martin corrects him with a cheerful smile and tries to ignore the voice in the back of his head telling him it’s just like Mum was.

But Jon’s not his mother. And Jon wants him around. 

Yes, Jon relies on him for a lot of things these days, but he’s always ready with a smile or a thank you or an apology that Martin shoos away. He’ll grab Martin’s hand, run his fingers over the rough palm like he can’t believe it's his to touch. Like it’s something precious.

His Mum never wanted to touch him. She would bat away his hands and curse at his help. She wanted him as far away as possible, she couldn’t bear to look at him and be reminded of the man she so hated.

But when Martin sits beside him, Jon immediately scoots closer, leans in and chases his warmth. Martin reads and Jon nods off in his arms. It’s frightening how much Jon trusts him. He’s so afraid of making a mistake, of doing the wrong thing and breaking that trust. Sometimes he stays awake and counts the scars on Jon’s face, runs his hands gently through his hair and catalogs every mistake he’s ever made until his eyes water.

And sometimes he manages to convince himself that this is real, that they’re safe and happy and that they have time to work things out, so much time they won’t know what to do with it. Jon will recover and so will he. They’ll be okay. But this doesn’t always work, and more often than not Jon wakes up and gives him a sleepy smile that Martin struggles to return.

Today’s a good day. Today, Jon washed the dishes without collapsing. Today, Jon remembered a stupid joke Martin told him a week ago. And today, when Jon forgot Daisy’s name, Martin didn’t think of his mother. 

Find your nearest cobbler and ask how much they charge for dying boots. I’ve had leather shoes dyed before, and I’ve always been happy with the results. 

You can dye boots by yourself, but I’ve never tried it. But there is leather dye out there.

it absolutely should look ridiculous beyond belief, certainly when Will sees the outfit pieces before Hannibal puts them on he anticipates that the look will be ridiculous beyond belief, but then once he has the whole thing on? You’re absolutely right. He looks unfairly dignified and attractive

Will, who is dressed normally save for a small bi pride flag pinned to his jacket, is somewhat embarrassed to be standing next to such a flamboyant force of nature (not that Hannibal embarrasses him necessarily but he certainly is attracting a lot of attention to them and people looking at Will is not Will’s fave thing yk) but also definitely turned on bc goddamn Hannibal is a walking rainbow and he’s pulling it off

Hannibal has such a big and over the top personality and I feel like while Will is perhaps often exasperated by that, he also does love him for it. And this is such a Hannibal thing to do, Will loves it (even though it is ridiculous)

This is a fun thing to picture happening after they get married but of course it’s not really going to be safe for them to go to pride in such a distinctive outfit post fall: that’s the sort of thing people absolutely would take pictures of and that’s a risk they can’t really afford (unless they flew to a city to attend pride and then IMMEDIATELY left)

But I actually could see it working as a season two au? Pride weekend is coming up and Hannibal just does this every year bc he’s Like That but obviously this year Will is there and he invites him and Will has never actually gone to pride but Hannibal is very enthused about them going together and sure why not, Hannibal’s probably not gonna murder anyone at pride but hey if he does Will will be there. And he is queer, and maybe it’ll be fun

Everyone thinks they’re dating and Hannibal does absolutely nothing to dissuade them of that notion. People ask him for a photo and he wraps his arm around Will’s waist and draws him into it. There’s so much touching and affection all around them that Will can’t make himself pull away from that contact like he normally would

And he absolutely is, as I said, turned on by Hannibal’s look and confidence and everything so he’s dealing with even more of his own desire to touch than normal… by the time they leave they’re just draped all over each other
