Ahhh the last day is here!!! I’m sad I didn’t get to participate as much as I wanted to, but your guys’ posts have kept my heart full as I’ve been going through them on the twitter side of things!

KH OC Week Day 7 - Summer’s End

Amaya might be a bit high maintenance when it comes to her appearance (y’all might have noticed all the different outfits and hairstyles throughout the weeks on our banners xD), but it’s the simple things she cherishes most - spending time with the people that mean the most of her, including her family and friends. Even as she grow older and journeys across different worlds, the Island is always the place she considers her home.

Thank you again to everyone who participated in @khoc-week ! It’s been so amazing to see everyone rally around and life one-another up, and I can’t wait to see more going forward!

Today we’re starting off by highlighting one of our favorite participants in the event thus far -- HinataOC. HinataOC has shown a level of courtesy, kindness, and genuine charm that has shown through in every interaction with the mods. Every point of contact was a joy. And the art Jirachi did for her is absolutely stunning. We cannot wait for everyone to read the full story and see the full piece! But enough of that -- it’s time for the interview!

Would you consider this a cover piece, and interstitial piece, or a back cover piece? Where would this piece be placed in the text for peak effectiveness? I would definitely consider this as a cover art for Aicaya. It shows the whimsical and soft tones that a majority of the story has, and it's in a setting that's often used throughout. Overall, I think it's a great first impression for readers before they dive into the text. 

If this were to be placed mid-story, I would probably put it after chapter 3. That's when Sora and Riku really start reaching a good mutual understanding and want to learn more about each other. And I think this piece shows that moment perfectly. 

What is your favorite part about this piece? Oh that's a tough one! Honestly, it's all of the details. The expressions, the stairwell, the ivy growing through the cracks in the brick, all of it works together to put together this incredible art piece. 

Does this piece add any new dimensions to the text?

I believe it does. There's that old saying that pictures are worth a thousand words, and I believe that rings true for this. Having a visual that you can use as a reference for your mind in a story can really cement the setting for you. It helps as a world building mechanic for Aicaya, in a way that I could never quite accomplish through words. 

Does this piece highlight any of your favorite parts of the story you’ve written?

It does! It highlights the interactions between Sora and Riku. In Aicaya, neither of them speak the same language as the other, but that doesn't stop their curiosity to learn as much as they can. There's a certain innocence to them and I think the art piece captures that essence perfectly.

A Night Kiss

Word Count: 451

Lea was by no means a light sleeper. 

Usually he would sleep soundly through the whole night and maybe half of the day, if someone wouldn’t wake him up.

This night, however, something roused him out of his slumber.

At first, he just felt warm, feather-light touches along his face. It caused him to feel so relaxed, he almost fell asleep again. But then they stopped their caressing and instead lips were pressed against his in a sweet, but short kiss.

Far too short for his liking.

Before the lips could move too far away, he sluggishly pushed himself up and followed them with his own. When they meet again in a kiss, he hear a surprised, but muffled squeak that made him chuckle into the kiss.

“You kissed your sleeping Beauty awake,” he said with an amused voice, after he parted again. His eyes slowly adjusted a bit to the darkness of the night and he could see Akira’s profile sitting beside him.

“Dork,” she muttered with a snort and shook her head.

He felt her hand touching his upper arm, her thumb gently stroking it.

“Sorry. I...didn’t mean to wake you up.”

“‘s fine,” he yawned. “Can imagine worse things to wake up to. Wonder how I get to that honor to this late hour, tho.”

After shilly-shallying around for a moment, she just shrugged.

“Just...felt like it,” she said in her usual sheepish manner, making him smile and nod with a hum.

“Very valid reason.”

He wrapped his arm around her waist to pull her closer and nuzzled his nose into her hair. Immediately she snuggled against his side.

“Just do it whenever you feel like it again. Don’t mind it at all.” He kissed her forehead. “Very much the opposite actually.”

While Akira didn’t left his embrace, she leant back a bit to look at his face. At least he was sure she tried to. It was dark after all.

Before he could comment on that, her arms wrapped around his neck and her lips were against his again, catching him by surprise. But just a moment later, both his arms hugged her flat against him and answered her loving kisses with his own.

When they became more and more lazy with their kisses, Akira gently pushed him back and Lea let himself slowly fall back into the bed. He kept his arms around her when they parted and she made it herself comfortable on his chest.

They both sighed in contentment, while Lea started to gently stroke through Akira’s hair. 

“Just like a dream,” he murmured, already getting sleepy again. Akira hummed in agreement.
