You Will NOT Believe What This Lazy Student Found In His Attic! || Himax
This month's school project had been more troublesome than Hiro intended. Not because it was hard but, rather, he thought so highly of himself that he totally forgot after doing it, and it was due Monday. And, well, it was Saturday then. Really not much of a time frame to work with, but he would have to manage.
The young man was in his room above the Café, hurriedly putting together the result of a quick schematic he had worked up for the purpose of his project. It wasn't his best work by any means, and he mainly just wanted to get it done so he could focus on what was important: All of the other stuff.
The prototype was coming along nicely - As a matter of fact, it was no work at all - and all of the pieces were in place soon enough. When Hiro tried to activate the contraption, though, it didn't work as expected, not powering up at all. And then, he hit his own face with his palm. Of course! He'd forgotten an important part of the wiring, and he had vowed to do it at the end when he was starting out. Rolling his eyes at himself, the student looked through his shelves for the sort of wire he needed, and found it was nowhere to be found.
Just as he considered how much work it would be to head to the shop, he recalled something: Back when Tadashi and himself moved to Aunt Cass's, they brought along some replacement supplies, among which were the required wires, and they hadn't touched them ever since... Well, since Tadashi wasn't around.
Taking a deep breath, Hiro stepped into the attic. Perhaps it wasn't the best idea to go up to a place he hadn't visited in years wearing only his socks, but he did anyway. He struggled to turn on the only light bulb in the room, and once it was on, decided to use his cellphone as a lantern because the lighting was too dim. Immediately, he began shuffling things through the cardboard boxes spread around the wooden room.
The box that technically belonged to him was not a success, and that meant he had to move elsewhere: The one labeled 'Tadashi' in kanji. He swallowed, and opened up the box trying not to think about the hurtful past of said cardboard container. He sorted through the electronics inside - which were actually much more organized than Hiro's own - and soon enough pulled out a box with the aforementioned wires. "Yes!" he exclaimed, looking them over. They were just perfect.
As he looked down at the box to close it, he realized something else: It wasn't just electronics. Inside was a small portrait of Tadashi, Hiro and their parents. Tears came to his eyes as soon as Hiro saw that, and he hurried to push the box away and turn around. He did so in such a hurry, though, that he didn't notice an old wooden nightstand in the corner of the room, and he stepped right into it, hitting his toe. "Ow! Ow-ow-ow-ow!" he exclaimed out loud, reaching for his foot in pain.
