lotor’s opinion on cereal (requested by @himacchu).
simply put: he doesn’t understand it, and not just because he’s a giant purple catlizard who only eats meat.
at first, he would have no opinion on it. it would just be another food to him that he can’t eat, and so he wouldn’t have a reason to care. but then as he would learn more about the human race, he’d eventually find out that human bodies literally cannot digest gluten. like. we’re not. and that’s why bread, rice, wheat, etc. can be so bad for us. it’s easy carbs, and carbs are necessary, but it’s not what we’ve evolved to be able to eat, and so he’d just look at that and think why do you humans eat it so often when you’re not even supposed to eat it? he would be quite displeased at the answer: because we like cereal. we just. really like it.
he would have special disregard for “junk” cereals like cinnamon toast crunch, lucky charms, honey nut cheerios, etc. that claim to be fortified with nutrients and vitamins. he knows from his altean culture that no matter how many supplements you try to take nothing ever replaces nutrients gained from proper, natural food, and so he turns his nose up at humans’ attempts to weasel their way out of healthy eating by artificially cramming vitamins into unhealthy breakfast food. and yet the “truly” healthy cereals would fare no better in his eyes, because once again, humans haven’t evolved to properly digest gluten, so consuming it would seem irrational to him. there would be a special place in hell for cheerios, which claim to be heart healthy but in reality don’t do jack shit. essentially, he sees cereal consumption as a way of people trying to have their cake and eat it too: they want to eat something that tastes good to them but is bad for them, and gain health benefits at the same time. and if one were to offer him a bite of cereal to change his mind, he wouldn’t understand the appeal either, as his galra instincts tell him to enjoy meat and blood alone.
overall, cereal consumption would just be another proof to him that humans are irrational, inferior and can’t take care of themselves, so “obviously” they need a “benevolent” dictator altean like him to step in and give them guidance. and that got way, way dark for what should honestly have just been a crack post but that’s just how my head works. LMAO
