Day one of Hills of Rock reminded me why some artists become more than names on a playlist. They become part of the architecture of your mind.

Marilyn Manson was never simply music to me. He was proof that art isn’t obligated to be understood. It doesn’t exist to comfort, to be polite, or to fit inside the moral boundaries people build around themselves. Its only responsibility is to be honest.

Before I ever spent endless nights editing scenes from my favourite films, searching for the perfect transition, the right piece of music, or trying to make separate worlds exist as one piece of magic, I was chasing a feeling I didn’t yet know how to describe. Not perfection. Presence. The kind of atmosphere that lingers after the screen goes black.

His work taught me that emotion is more important than explanation. That symbolism says what language cannot. That the images we remember are rarely the most beautiful—they’re the ones that expose something we’ve spent years hiding from ourselves.

Watching him tonight wasn’t about finally seeing a legend.

It was about recognising one of the invisible fingerprints that shaped the way I experience creativity.

Influence isn’t imitation.

It’s the silent evolution of perception.

Years pass before you realise that someone else’s art quietly rearranged the way you see beauty, darkness, cinema, music—even yourself.

Maybe that’s what great artists leave behind.

Not followers.

Not copies.

But people brave enough to create their own worlds because someone once showed them that different was never something to apologise for.

Some performances end with the last song.

The important ones become part of the person you are after you leave.

Hills of Rock and Plovdiv as a whole
