I think that every delinquent will see their while "group" as something different. Umeji a way to keep Osoro's legacy alive, Hokuto a way to be himself with no worries, and Gaku a way to exact his revenge.
As stated above, several students who still attend the school were there during the incident with his arm, and yet they still didn't defend him. I don't know who exactly these students are or why they were so silent, since most of the students are generally good people and would at the very least likely report the incident to a staff member.
Still, I don't think that Gaku has forgiven his peers just yet or the teacher that failed him. In fact, I think that he considers the third years from last year lucky that they stopped coming to school.
This rage that Gaku has been bitterly hanging onto for so long is the reason why he's so easily manipulated and so hard to reason with. This, of course, is referencing both Hoshiko and Sho. Ayano really just serves as someone who will likely help his group, but someone he still doesn't like regardless.
I'm currently debating on how he could be used as either an enemy or an ally to Ayano... 🤔
