If it were up to me, the Nagumo vs Gaku fight (chapter 151) would be a full two episode of just that battle. It needs intense music and intense art. I would pour my soul into that one fight if were up to me 😭

If the anime doesn’t get the gaku vs nagumo fight right, I stg I’m gonna break into the studio myself.
I have high expectations. This is their grab for other viewers and to keep people hooked. This fight can be epic and is the way to convince Netflix to not discontinue.
Manga spoilers and thoughts ahead!! Don’t read if you don’t know 🫵🫵
Two things since the previous chapter dropped for Sakamoto Days!
1 I hope someone finds Shin! I hope he’s good. I don’t want him to just be passed out in a random alley for too long! Despite the civilians in this story being mostly npc’s, there’s still other people around and I don’t want shin to get hurt. Hopefully we see him again soon!
2 with the prediction of Sakamoto Taro’s death, I think there’s truly two options that Yuto Suzuki is planning.
One option is that Kei Uzuki/Slur develops a Sakamoto Taro personality and someone kills him while in that personality, and effectively, the real Sakamoto cannot save Uzuki, making it tragic that he couldn’t keep his promise to Kashima.
The other option is Nagumo turns into Taro and is killed while dressed/disguised as Sakamoto Taro. Nagumo is known for being disorienting, and that’s a strength of his, so it could become his fatal flaw as well in the end. This would also be incredibly tragic because Nagumo is a favourite character of many and is best friends with Sakamoto.
It would also be tragic cuz there aren’t a terrible amount of major deaths in the Sakamoto fandom (some include: Haruma, Rion Akao (which was not a major major death cuz we’ve known she’s dead for while but a major factor in the story), Takamura, Hyo, Gozu, Carolina Reaper, and Tasuka Ando). There are a good amount of minor characters’ deaths (Oki, Laser Yamamoto, Sei Asaki, Shinto Yotsomura, minimalist, dump, saw, Sochi Amo, Uda, Kobayashi, and Higuchi), but something really popular with Yuto Suzuki’s plots are that those you think are dead aren’t really (cough gaku cough cough).
I’m not sure it’s within Suzuki to kill off his main character; he’s incredible with character development don’t get me wrong, but it’s hard for him to want to kill off characters. So I think those are the two options that the manga will end up with.

You had joined the team a few months back, not as a fighter, but on the tech and logistics side of things - weapon repairs, recon, collecting intel, and other things along that vein. In your past, you had easily fallen into video games as a hobby, utilizing your skillset for a more casual and fun activity.
Kashima was the one to bring you for introductions to the others, sliding open the warehouse door and allowing you to step inside first. You hadn't brought much along, the contents of your bag consisting of a simple few changes of clothes and some personal items, but one thing you refused to part with over the years was your Xbox console. Kashima directed you to a secluded area to drop your belongings, and then lead you over to where the group usually occupied.
You were met with a single individual, a silver haired man lounging back on a beaten up couch.
"This is.. everyone?" you asked hesitantly, glancing around slightly. When the deer headed man said group, was it wrong for you to expect more than one other person?
"The others should be back soon, I just figured they would have already returned by now," Kashima replied, stepping up next to you to survey the area before him. "Gaku, can you please introduce yourself to our new recruit?"
"Name's Gaku. But, seems Kashima beat me to it," the man on the couch said monotonously. You couldn't quite see what he was holding from where you were standing, but whatever it was seemed to hold his attention well.
"Y/N," you replied, offering a smile and a nod in Gaku's direction, despite the man not turning to greet you. He offered a measured hum of acknowledgment in response.
"Gaku, please, can you show her around? I know it's just the warehouse, but I want her to feel comfortable," Kashima pleaded with him, voice starting to take a more authoritative edge.
"Alright, alright. Lemme finish this game and then I will," Gaku said.
At the mention of a game, you felt your excitement pique.
"Oh, you game?" you asked him, voice slipping into an excited tone.
"When does he not," Kashima said under his breath, backing away and leaving you to your own devices in the presence of the man in front of you.
Gaku only hums in response, and you rock back and forth on your feet for a few moments while getting a better look at the inside of the warehouse, now your new living quarters. When your eyes drift back to him, you realized he likely hadn't even glanced your way still. You tried to lean to get a view of what he was playing, or even what he was playing on, but when your movements proved futile, you finally spoke up.
"Would you mind if I sat and watched you?" you asked, the question coming out sounding much meeker than you had planned.
"Yeah, sure," Gaku replied, maintaining his same tone.
He didn't make any effort to shift his body as you made your way over, still sat back into the worn couch, legs spread and outstretched in front of him. You settled down onto the cushion next to him, having to virtually lean into him to see the screen of what you now know to be a Switch.
You had tucked your legs underneath of your body, settling back into the couch similar to how Gaku was. Your knees ended up pressed lightly onto the side of his thigh due to how he was sitting, this being the only way for you to actually be able to watch the screen.
When he felt your legs brush against his, Gaku glanced over at you from the corner of his eye, taking in your person for the first time since you had walked into the warehouse. It was a brief look, and his attention was quickly brought back to his game.
"What game is this?" you asked softly, making sure not to disturb him or take him out of his gaming zone.
"Resident Evil," he replied simply. You nodded in response, adding in a slight hm as acknowledgment.
After a few more moments, and after glancing around the room one more time, your attention returned to Gaku and his game.
"Do you guys have a TV here?" you asked.
Gaku scoffed in response, adding on, "Nah. And good luck getting the boss to get you one. He's already on my ass for gaming, I doubt he'd want to bring in shit for movies."
"Oh, no, I was just hoping there would be a place to hook up my Xbox. Maybe I can get Kashima to go out with me, at least look for a trash one."
Gaku's gaze glanced back over to your figure, spending slightly more time catologuing your appearance.
She games?, he thought to himself. You didn't necessarily look the part, but once that thought crossed his mind, he realized there wasn't really a specific look. He thinks back to when he overheard Kashima telling Uzuki about you, their new recruit, and how, despite not fighting, you were top notch at the technical and logistical side of things. Gaku supposes it tracks.
"I'll go with you," he claimed definitively, leaving no room for opposition. "Finish this, show you around, go look for a TV." Gaku listed off the tasks as if he were writing down his to-do list.
Your eyes widened, face turning up to watch his side profile as he continued to focus on his game.
"You'd really do that?" you asked incredulously. You had just met him today, and from first impression, he didn't seem like the kind of person to go out of his way to help people that were basically strangers to him.
"You can't game if you don't have one, right?" Gaku asked, as if it was obvious.
"Oh," you replied, "Yeah, I guess you're right."
Gaku hums. "I'd probably go crazy here without my games. Wouldn't wish that on anyone, except maybe the old man," he said.
You turned your gaze to the side of his face, tilting your head slightly in confusion at the last of his sentence. Gaku didn't give you any further context, attention remaining on the screen in front of him. His expression didn't even shift in the slightest.
True to his word, once he finished his game, he showed you around the various spaces they had formed around the warehouse before leading you back outside and to his bike.
Gaku slings his leg over first, balancing the bike underneath of him. He jerks his head, motioning for you to stop standing next to it and to get on the seat behind him. Once you do, he starts pedaling, taking the both of you to a more secluded shopping area, only consisting of a few sketchy looking stores. He stops behind the corner of one of the buildings.
"Stay here and, uh, watch the bike, I guess. I'll be right back," Gaku said, giving you no more information than that before turning around to walk around the building while you just sat there, balancing the bike, watching him leave in disbelief, but not dislike, at his bluntness.
When he returns, he is, indeed, carrying a television; nothing incredibly fancy, but a decent size despite being a bit bulkier than the newer models. It has an HDMI port and a working power cord, so it's good enough for your Xbox in the warehouse.
Gaku watched your eyes brighten and your posture straighten as you watched him return to you with the desired electronics, and it warmed something deep inside of him to see someone so excited about something he's doing for them.
"Gaku, you're incredible," you gush, arms extending to collect the TV from where he was holding it out - you were to hold securely onto the new treasure while he biked the both of you back to the warehouse. Gaku simply shrugged in response, as if to say that it wasn't a problem.

Three months later, the friendship between you and Gaku was easy. You clicked very quickly due to your shared love of gaming, and you were both impressed with the other's strengths in your fields, you recognizing his adept fighting ability and Gaku impressed with your technical skills. When you both had downtime, your favorite pastime is simply being in each other's company while you play your respective games.
Over those three months, Gaku has come to realize that what he feels for you is at least not the same familial connection he feels for the others from Al-Kamar; he feels an almost need to be near you when the two of you are both in the warehouse. When you aren't both there, it's usually Gaku the one who isn't, being out and about and fighting, since most of your own work can be done from inside the warehouse. At that point, he finds that his thoughts consist of something usually along the line of, 'how can I get this done fastest so I can go and hang out with Y/N.'
When Gaku notices the pattern, he realizes that you're special to him in a different way, and makes an effort to cherish your time together more, especially considering his line of work. Therefore, he almost ensures that your shared time at the warehouse is primarily spent together.
The usual scene would begin when you had finished up any work you had for the day, making your way over to the couch to boot up your console, TV sat on a low table in front of you - the same TV Gaku had helped you procure when you first joined the group. You would sit nestled in the corner of the couch, leaning your weight against your arm that was angled into the arm rest. Your feet were usually pulled underneath you, and if not, they were instead curled to the side of you.
Gaku would typically join later: if he had been out fighting or training, he'd arrive back at the warehouse, look over at you immersed in your game once he walking through the door, then beeline to the shower for a quick rinse before meeting you on the couch. Otherwise, he'd sleep until early afternoon, stumbling out of his 'room' groggily first thing - stretching one arm while rubbing his eyes with the other and yawning - to see where you were and grabbing his Switch with eyes half closed once he confirmed you were sat in (what he mentally deems as) your corner of the couch. Gaku's positions varied, both by what he was doing beforehand and just generally by how he's feeling, but he'd primarily either be pressed entirely into your side, sitting upright with his legs stretched out in front of him, or he'd lay with his back on the couch while he rested his head against the side of your legs or in your lap. Regardless, it was always with his Switch in hand.
The two of you would just sit there in each other's presence while playing your respective games, you running round after round of Fortnite while he replayed Resident Evil or some other boss-level based game on his handheld. Sometimes, after he beats a boss level, Gaku spends a few moments watching you, occasionally your gameplay but usually he's observing your expressions as you game.
Gaku would notice the way you scrunched your eyebrows together when you were focused on running after another player, or the way you'd move your body slightly, one way or another, while immersed in a match, your brain combining game and reality into one and making you think moving your physical body would translate onto the screen. Gaku found it endearing to see you as passionate as he is, even more so with it being a shared passion. He'd chuckle to himself when you let out a squeal if someone snuck up on you, feeling his chest warm as he caught himself thinking just how cute you were (but he'd never show it, at least not yet).
Kashima and Uzuki were both surprised at first at the fact that neither of you, but Gaku specifically, never seemed to notice when they lingered behind the couch, knowingly watching the two of you interact. However, once they truly saw how comfortable and relaxed he seemed around you, they didn't question his inability to sense them - they knew on the field, Gaku would maintain his survival instincts, but here - in the warehouse, with you - they watched him allow himself vulnerability and comfort, in his own way.

Also, since I plan to be writing for these boys as well (gaku, nagumo, shin, mayhaps shishiba and natsuki), I'll be adding a section to my taglist (tracked quests from pinned post!), so lmk if you'd like to be added!

synopsis: gaku hates how you keep beating him at his favorite arcade game.
the first time it happened, gaku barely cared.
he walked into the arcade after finishing a job, pockets heavier than they should've been, still wearing the bored expression of someone who'd seen far too much blood to be impressed by flashing lights and prize counters. he wandered from cabinet to cabinet until one machine caught his eye.
tekken 8.
easy. he cracked his knuckles, shoved a few coins into the machine, and played.
perfect accuracy. ridiculous speed. a score high enough to knock every other name off the leaderboard. it’s like he knew every combo of every character after the first try, aware of every move that could deflect an attack and land a harder hit in return.
he smirked.
gxku. first place.
"nice."
he left.
the next week, he came back. his name was second. and above it sat three stupid little letters. letters from your name.
"who?"
