“Of course you do, dear. I would dare say you would even look good without anything, but that is not the point. This is simply the attire expected for the event and I am in need of an extra set of eyes. So while all eyes are on you, how about you make sure to keep yours on the target instead of on your own reflection?” Once he finished fixing the other's tie, he stepped back with a satisfied sigh. "Besides, you can always watch me instead," he added with a playful wink, knowing very well how to play the game of confidence.

        “Dissection.”  Oh sure, she had read the fact in a book, but why trust that when she could verifying it for herself? Uni labs, and the slow meticulous process of searching for nociceptors in the thin slices of lung. Pig lung, but not so different in composition. A fact she failed to inform Sebastian of.. “The pleura has plenty of pain receptors, though. So being stabbed in the lungs would still cause pain. Just not pain in the lungs themselves.” Human awareness of the exact origin of pain was rather fuzzy and misguided, especially when it came to the chest. 

“You know exactly how good my bedside manner is.” She quipped in response, continuing to hold the gauze flush and firm against the gash on his abdomen. “Though unfortunately, I can’t say the same for my patience. Do be a darling and try not to whine.”

Ernessa got into the van without saying anything, her eyes on Sebastian at all times, begging him not to fight as she was curious about what was happening. Being kidnapped together was sort of a date after all. The night was not all in ruins. “Come darling, no need to make a fuss about this. These lovely men are simply going to give us a ride.” Although her hands tied in front of her, she still seemed in total control, and oozed calm and confidence. “Better do what your girlfriend says or I’m gonna break your fucking face.” Ernessa wrinkled her nose in distaste but did not say anything, just silently requested that Sebastian hold it in for a moment longer. These kinds of opportunities rarely came to her and she was never fully kidnapped before, so she wanted the experience. It was educational. 

It’s already been one hell of a fucked-up day. He was woken up earlier than normal by his upstairs neighbors being loud as shit, and then his fucking debriefing partner was shot and killed in broad daylight during their lunch break. So of course today is the day he ends up running into someone on his walk home, dropping his fucking cane and leaving himself way more blind than usual. “Sorry. Didn’t see you there.” It’s deadpan, because it’s honest, but it’s also something to fill the space while he tries to scuff his foot around, searching for his dropped cane.
