Hexaflexagons are the Bestaflexagons
Hexaflexagon Series
Reblog if you’d like to join my hexagon flexagon cult
Hey! I love this blog! Sorry if this has been mentioned before but have you guys heard of hexaflexagons? I suggest watching the video by Vihart on youtube about them! They're so easy to make that I'm surprised I don't hear more about them. They're these little paper toys that fold infinitely and you can color each side to get both a tactile and a visual stim out of it!! I highly recommend them.
Thank you for the lovely words, anon! And no, they haven’t been mentioned here yet, so thank you so much for giving us a new DIY to check out!
Here’s a page with a basic run-down and links to tutorials for trihexaflexagons and hexahexaflexagons.
This page links to four different Vi Hart videos on hexaflexagons. I’d start at the top and work your way down, as the first video gives more of a rundown on what they are and how they work as a flippy paper fidget toy.
(Note: Vi Hart talks quite quickly, which I think is part of the appeal, but because of that the videos might be a little hard for some of us to process. Because of the nature of the toy, there’s also a lot of flickering and flipping in the videos.)
Thank you so much, anon! As soon as I’ve got a little bit of time I’ll have to try this out for myself!

@zukoandtheoc says,
most of her videos have captions if u need them (some only have the auto-generated captions tho, but I think her website might have transcripts of all her videos)
Thank you. (I’ve got seven asks to do today plus house cleaning, so chances are very high I’m going to forget to check or mention things.) There’s transcripts for the videos on YouTube in several languages (just click the display in YouTube option) and they do have closed captions in English. Thank you for reminding me, because that’s so important!
following simply because of the username (another vihart enjoyer?)
Vi hart enjoyer yes, but also just a topologist lol
(Also thanks for the follow! I hope you enjoy my multifandom mathematical mayhem)

For reasons. Look this is just fucking fascinating I remember the first time I watched it and I was mesmerised, it's just... yeah. Muck around, do shit with the physical world, it's basically magic.
Anyone else hyperfixate on hexaflexagons as a kid but couldn't talk to other people about them because they had no idea what they are?
folded a hexaflexagon that’s four folds of paper thick and unfolded it and am now folding it in other fun ways
