Okay. Currently writing a short story about a basilisk attack and checked up what is latin for 'basilisk'. Turns out it's 'Regulus'. Lets bear in mind that Regulus Black was the pure blood brother of Sirius Black, sorted into Slytherin while at Hogwarts. In his younger years Regulus was a death eater but upon finding out how evil Voldemort really was, set out to destroy one of his horcruxes (Salazar Slytherin's locket, which Ron eventually destroyed). One of the only things that can destroy a horcrux is basilisk venom so even from a baby, Regulus, who was named after a horcrux destroyer, later on set out to be a horcrux destroyer.
