Things I've learned so far
THINGS I'VE LEARNED... almost 4 months til the big 10 year herpeversary. Here's some things I've learned ...
1. My herpes is basically only a problem during my PMS week.
2. My depression/anxiety/lethargy is also a fairly major problem in my life (1st step is acceptance) and its also only a real problem during my PMS week.
3. I didn't use to get PMS (didn't use to ovulate, had PCOS or whatever) but once my period started coming normally and I started ovulating, I also started getting PMS. This all started a few years ago. So maybe this is why my herpes outbreaks started getting worse in the last couple years (since herpes is known to be linked to PMS) and also why my halfass attempts to get knocked up never worked out ;-)
How to stop being depressed during the PMS week:
-Dr says take antidepressant 1 week before my period is predicted to come (just start taking it according to my period calendar). Still haven't tried it, but im considering it.
-Let myself get as much sleep as I want (i think all that tired/fogginess I feel during outbreaks is more so from this depression-ish PMS crap and less so from the acyclovir)
How to prevent a full blown herpes outbreak during the PMS week:
-Dr says make sure I'm doing the correct dosage of acyclovir (which I wasn't). 3 times a day for 5 days. Do a better job of doing this consistently.
-Sadly reduce the tampon use. They are definitely a trigger. Hate pads but gotta do what i gotta do
-Stop wearing tight jeans... skirts, dresses, leggings, these are my friends. ok thats an excuse to buy new clothes !
-Eat right, sleep, exercise, try not to be stressed, dont suddenly start dating or having sex if i havent in a while (you know the obvious stuff)
Or possibly this could all be solved with taking the pill? hmm... something to think about. but for now ill stick to the above. so next month around may 13th (just marked my calendar) im going to see if i can attack and prevent the storm
