My problem with geek fashion
Looking for the stores for my master list i’ve come to realize that all of them sell graphic tees, i suppose that’s where the money is, also they’re fairly cheap to make.
The thing is that this upsets me as a fashion designer, T-shirts are REALLY boring. I see little boys and girls (also men and women) trying to change their look to feel better and the only thing in their closets are t-shirts. Tell me how they’re gonna feel a change when unconsciously they see no difference in their silhouettes. Color and prints are important but they are secondary.
I hated how I looked and I noticed the root of the problem until my last year of high school, on college finally someone explained why. Imagine how people feel when they’re not into fashion design and they don’t understand why they can't find clothes with a closet full of t-shirts, jeans and hoodies.
THANK YOU to the only Geek “premium” brands: Hero Within and Her Universe, they offer the most distinct styles for men and women respectively. There are also the collabs and licensing partnerships but as a geek you have to actively hunt them or you’ll never find out they even exist.
@ Western merchandise executives, check the Bandai Fashion Collection for their anime properties, that’s how merchandise should be made.
