so, this was started months ago but never finished. sorry bout that guys.
here, have a wholesome, non-dead tommy learning to build from Grian.
hopefully i improved in writing in the months i was gone. sorry again guys!
---
Tommy’s been in this server for approximately 4 months. He’s been camping in Grian’s hobbit hole, building cobbledongs everywhere. Grian laughed at seeing it the first few times, but eventually he realized the new kid didn’t know how to build anything else.
So, Grian being Grian, he all but dragged Tommy to his mega base.
---
"Tommy!" Grian can be heard, swooping from the air and landing in front of the grinning kid.
Tommy, still a little jumpy despite 4 months of peace, practically leaps out of his skin. He scowls at the laughing blond. Grian is practically bent in half.
"That's so not pog!"
Grian wipes his eye, grin never leaving his face. "Do you want to learn to build a better house? Not that I'm saying you can't live in the hobbit hole, but I'm sure you'd want to build other things with all your cobble."
Tommy was touched, a little embarrassed at being touched, and very much insecure in his building skills.
He's not good at building, you see. He's not good at redstone either, really. All TommyInnit's been good at was fighting, and even then, he was so far from being the best that all he has going is sheer will and determination.
Not anymore, though.
Nowadays, Tommy's just sitting around doing nothing. Maybe trying to learn won't be too hard.
Hey, at least Grian's proven himself to be nice enough.
---
Grian was surprised at how fast Tommy picked up building.
The kid had creativity for miles, only stifled by how scared he is. It makes Grian sad to see what his old server did to Tommy, wishing, not for the first time, that the boy had lagged into Hermitcraft much much earlier.
It's okay though, Grian will still adopt him.
"Big G!" Tomny screeches, laughter evident in his voice. "I did it! I finished the tower!"
Tommy had made a tower of cobble. Well, at least mostly cobble. Bringing the kid all over the server brought out his eye for details and texture. It's like seeing a craftsman come back to what he did best.
The tower, only the first of many according to Tommy, is simple. It doesn't look like it was made by a newbie, and while it still needs polishing, it's more than anyone could realistically expect from someone who started learning barely a week ago.
There were vines crawling up from the base, mosstly cobble transitioning to normal cobble. Some chunks were missing, giving the whole thing a dilapidated, abandoned look.
Tommy thought up a whole story about a king leaving behind his empire and youngest sons to adventure with his oldest. Grian feels like it's a personal story, but he never asks.
(It is. A personal story, that is. That's why Tommy started building his base, at least the starter one, by Xisuma's place. It's fine. Tommy's fine.)
Everyone has a right to keep their pasts, after all.
"It's pretty good, Tommy." Grian smiles at the teen.
Tommy practically vibrates fron the praise.
"I'm going to make it have a green roof too, so we can match! We'll be like brothers!"
Grian almost tears up. He always santed a little brother.
"Yeah. Yeah, Toms. We'll be like brothers."
