Chapter Three

“...And since a wormhole can only exist in the space between two black holes, trapping anything that gets caught inside with no way out, the theoretical possibility of wormhole travel or artificially creating wormholes is not only a preposterous concept but ultimately goes against the laws of the natural universe –”

A bell rang interrupting Dr. McKay’s lecture and the clamour of students gathering up their books and laptops, shoving them into backpacks as they hurried to their next class, nearly drowned out his parting words.

“...Don’t forget, the research paper on the second law of thermodynamics - 'entropy and the impossibility of time travel' is due a week from tomorrow. Don’t wait!”

Rodney turned around to his whiteboard and jotted down a few notes to himself for his next class and didn’t notice the freshman casually waltzing up to him, hands in his pockets, a smug expression on his face.

“Covering your tracks a little hard, aren’t ya, Doc?”

Rodney sighed, “And just what is that supposed to mean…eh, Mister…?” He hated trying to remember names.

“O’Neill. Jonathan O’Neill. But everyone calls me Jack.”
