Epsilon/Lola, him soothing her after a particularly bad âshiftâ? (Nobody knows what I mean but you, but I no longer care)
@herecomesthesniperbutt all for that OC indulgence
This is a fic that is pretty OC centric and its impossible to explain the full context here briefly, but the key context is that Lola is essentially the equivalent to Epsilon but from Beta/Tex rather than Alpha.
Identity
[AO3] [Fic Tag] [Ko-Fi in Bio]
Word Count: 486
It had been a long couple of days, but, finally, it seemedthe worst was over.
Deep black faded slowly into a dark grey, yellow patchesaround her shoulders fading in and out. Lola was coming back up from the shift;her form flickered slightly, her energy drained. Epsilon caught her by theshoulders as her holo stumbled, the posturing that came with a Tex-shiftfalling away.
âThere you are⌠hey,Lola,â Epsilon said, with a rare softness reserved almost entirely for her.âHey, look at you. Thatâs my Lola. Howyou feeling, huh? You tired?â
Lola leaned into him, wrapped her arms around his torso.Nodded, slowly. âMmhm. Tiredâ Tired.â
âOkay, letâs get yousomewhere you can rest a while, okay? Câmon.â
Scooping her up, her arms looping around his neck, he sent aquick blip to Carolina and then slipped away from her implants, into the baseâscomputer systems. It wasnât hard to find an isolated terminal, a dead end onthe network; no one would disturb them there, wouldnât even think to look. Itâsconnection to the baseâs power would give Lola a little energy, help her feel alittle more awake.
âHere we are⌠howâsthis?â
Lola nodded slowly again, wrapping her arms tighter aroundEpsilonâs neck.
Together their holos blinked out and reappeared as if laid ontop of the terminal, with Lola tucked securely into the curve of Epsilonâsbody. Her head tucked against his chest, her legs curled up, her arms wrappedaround him and his around her. Curling into him, Lola let herself relax in thesafety of his familiar embrace.
The worst of the pain was over. Epsilon had her now.
âI got you. I got you,âhe hushed gently, nuzzling against the top of her head. âYouâre back. Youâre Lola.â
âMmhm. Me.â
âYouâre you. YouâreLola, things get messy sometimes yeah but thatâs you. Lola. No one else. Identityâsa fuck, but youâve decided who you are. Weâve decided who we are, so thatâs us.â
Lola hummed quietly. As he talked, the yellow patches on hershoulders flashed brighter, settled for longer. Her form stabilised. She was her, no one else. She was her and he washim and just because they were someone elseâs memories didnât mean they werenâttheir own people. Epsilon was good about never letting her forget that, attimes like this.
His identity was a little more solid, a little lessvolatile, but he understood.
âI got you, Lola. Igot you.â
Wriggling up a little, she bumped the front of her visoragainst the side of his head with a soft, âMwah.â
If Epsilon had projected a face, heâd have grinned.
âThatâs my Lola. Mwahyourself.â
Lola giggled, buried her head against his shoulder andlatched on tight. She needed a little more time to recharge, to recover, but shewould get there soon enough and Epsilon wasnât going anywhere.
