Me, a fan of Clone High: lmao clone high fans are freaks
How tf does one get notes on pieces I'm struggling so hard and I'm losing all motivation
I don’t really know if I can help with this, but I’ll try.
The only reasons I get so many notes now is because I’ve had my blog for a long time. At first, I didn’t get many notes at all. The good news is that the more you post, the more feedback you’ll get/the more people will start to notice and like what you’re doing, at least from my experience. Don’t stop writing and/or posting just because your early stuff isn’t getting noticed.
Seriously, the most important thing is to not lose motivation. If you enjoy writing it, then keep writing it! I only started posting stuff because there was a chance people would like it, and I figured writing so many things just for me wasn’t as fun? I won’t say feedback isn’t a factor though, because honestly a lot of my motivation comes from the kind things people say.
But you’re not going to start out with a fic that automatically gets hundreds of notes right off the bat. It’s a process.
Another thing I cannot stress enough; use the freaking tags. Make sure you put what people could be looking for in the tags. I’m not saying just the fandom, or the pairing. Tag whether it’s angst or fluff, if it’s AU or canonverse, tags tags tags. Otherwise people won’t be able find it.
Also, you don’t have to post fics on tumblr. AO3 is a great place, at least if we’re talking about the VLD fandom.
Anyway, moral of the story! Don’t be discouraged if you’re just starting out and you’re not getting many notes. I never thought my fics would be read by anyone, and if I can do it, so can you. So keep trying, keep writing, no matter what. The notes, comments, and all that fun stuff will probably come in due time without you even having to try.
