Oh boy *cracks knuckles*

It seems so silly that I’d actually say this myself after reading it on other people’s blogs but - write.

Write, write and write more and then go BACK and read what you wrote over and over and over. This way you spot typos much more reliably (even though some always slip through, but it will be a lot less!) 

Don’t be discouraged if you fall out of love with a project halfway through!

I have countless discontinued stories I once started out of a hyper-fixation with insane spikes of inspiration, only to lose that specific fixation and become completely bored with what I started, unmotivated to finish it, which brings me to my most important point:

Never delete anything you wrote, even if you hate it!I could slap myself for deleting my Jurassic Park/ATLA/Timetravel-AU fanfiction because I thought it was stupid! I want to read that shit again!!! So, now I never ever delete anything I wrote, no matter if it’s only one page long or 30 pages, finished, discontinued or just a one-shot. WHY? Well, It is a timestamp, a marker of your writing-skills you could say. Seriously, if you have kept older stuff you wrote - READ THAT SHIT and then read the most recent project you have. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed, there is always a noticeable improvement. I had to go back to the first 20 chapters of my Invader Zim fanfiction CURIOSITY and completely rewrite them because I thought to myself “Holy crap who wrote that?! It’s horrible!” 

Consume as much media as you want and don’t let anyone tell you no!

Another big, big point! You need inspiration for a new project? Don’t have any ideas atm? Go watch a new show, read a new book, play video games, read other people’s fanfictions! Sometimes it’s even enough to listen to some music to suddenly get that inspiration, that “Holy shit that fits xyz so well, omg I can almost see it!” and then just start writing for yourself, your own pleasure. This is your life and nobody else gets to say what you should do with it. 

Syntax is good, but first let’s get to where we want to be!

Don’t stress about the perfect sentence at first. You have an idea and that wants out, no matter how! If it’s messy and in short blurts, that’s fine, you can always polish it later, as long as you break off that first piece of marble from your vision! Once you have the rough shape, take a smaller chisel and start smoothing out the roughness for details. If that involves pasting sentences into an already written paragraph - awesome, go nuts! Save a copy of your current piece and try something new on this, so you won’t mess up anything important and can go back to the original anytime you want,

Writing is like drawing - it can be hard sometimes and you’re going to struggle at certain critical points, but you will succeed, no matter how or in what amount of time. If you don’t think this one project is really the bee’s knees, try something else, maybe it can help turn that first idea around and get you back on track. Just:

to jump start a car remember:

1. red on dead

2. red on donor

3. black on donor

4. black on body (NOT, the battery. that'll fry it)

5. start donor

6. start dead

So apparently, a lot of people don't know the difference between "your" and "you're", "its" and "it's", and "they're", "there", and "their". It's really not that hard. Here's an easy way to remember it.

If you have the apostrophe symbol ' in the middle of a word, then it's usually a contraction, or a combination of two words.

For example:

You're = You are

It's = It is (also used as "it has", "it was")

They're = They are

Whenever you see a contraction, try separating the two words and repeat the sentence you want to say to see if it still makes sense.

Like:

"I am coming over to you're house."

would be

"I am coming over to you are house."

which doesn't make sense, so in this case, the use of "you're" would be incorrect.

However, in the sentence

"You're so lazy!"

the full form would make it

"You are so lazy!"

which is correct.

Getting the hang of it?

Coming to "there" and "their":

"There" refers to a place while "their" refers to a possession.

For example:

"I am going to Greenland. It's cold over there."

and

"This is a bag. It's their bag."
