“What have you done to me, Naomi?”

The lights flickered in the room, the dusty crypt morphing into a pristine office, devoid of marks and life. Castiel looked down at this hands in confusion, swearing that they were covered in blood a second ago. He closed his eyes. Something trickled down his fingers and he snapped his eyes wide.

The nerves in his brain fought the months of training his body had endured, his willpower striving against the programming in his mind.

“Cas…this isn’t you. This isn’t you.”

His knuckles struck the hunter’s jaw. He looked into Dean’s eyes, tilting his head as they widened in shock

“Cas…your face…what’s happening?”

He could feel his skin tightening, a faint buzz droning out his thoughts, the tang of iron tainting the air around them. The mental war roaring in his mind, fell silent. White noise coloured the silence and made his head pound. He lost control of his limbs, the silver blade slipping out of his hands as the world around him tipped on its sides.

(“I fixed you, Castiel.”)

“Cas?”

He collapsed onto the floor, his body shaking as the spasms took over. He could feel metal on his skin, cool and numbing, the pain raging through his body, forgotten. A sense of calm took over his mind, washing away the doubt and renewing his strength.

He couldn’t remember who he was.

The angel stood up slowly, his eyes darting across the room. He flexed his arms, and focused on the lack of sound in his mind.

A single command rang sharp and clear in the air.
