I have a light-hearted question/headcanon for the Little Darling au:

Do you think when the Whitebeards were trying to teach baby Alex how to say their names, Marco refused to join in for a while? Not out of any dislike of her or angst, but because he was worried she would accidentally start calling him “Ma” or “Mama” instead? I feel like Alex, being the chaos gremlin she is, absolutely would have messed with him for a bit. After all, Marco is the mother hen of the crew.

Considering how the crew acted during the Thatch Atchoo incident, Marco really didn’t want to risk being called mama bird. Unfortunately, Marco’s siblings are immature but extremely determined menaces.

As far as the Marco question, that is so brilliant! I think Marco might have made a little bit of an attempt to teach her his name but got a bad feeling every time he caught Thatch/one of the other pranksters watching. Because Thatch and Haruta and whoever else had secretly been trying to teach Alex to call him Mama since the day she said her first word and were just waiting for her to learn.

But jokes on them! Their baby sister never bothered to call Marco anything, she just looked up at them with big, sad eyes that wouldn't go away until they finally brought Marco over. At which point she would give Marco (Only Marco) a big smile and let him pick her up, and that would be that.

It gets to the point that all she has to do is make a particular pout and all her brothers go *big sigh* "ugh fine, I'll go get Marco"

Imagine if Imu’s eyes could also glow in the dark. Baby Alex absolutely would have scared her siblings in the middle of the night, especially during “find the baby”. One of her brothers waking up in the middle of the night to find glowing red eyes staring at them looking like a demon is coming for their soul until someone screams and turns on the light to find Baby Alex standing there with a plushie or an empty cup because she wanted water.

After a close call where one of her brothers almost punted their baby sister, Alex was required to wear a bell to bed in case she got up. Later on, Alex attaches one of her old bells to both her and her dad’s bracelets. Incidentally, Alex becomes very good at moving quietly to not trigger the bell during her late night training sessions.

Hehehe omg Alex as Imu's daughter is one of those ideas that people keep asking about and there was a point where I thought about it but for a couple reasons decided not to. (One of which is that I couldn't not give her red eyes if I did) So sadly Alex is confirmed not to be Imu's daughter but holy crap is this such a fun idea to think about

Imagine how freaked out Shanks would be seeing those eyes on that adorable little girl. Imagine the Whitebeards accidentally training her to move silently. Imagine me being extra dramatic and giving her Rocinante's devil fruit so she REALLY moves silently.

Personally, I think a Tontatta could be interesting. Not just because of the adorable size difference between her and her family along with the parentage joke, but how her character could change. While stronger and faster than her human self, she would have to learn to master stealth if she wants to hide instead of relying on makeup. Her family would be far more paranoid of her safety off the ship and Alex would have an even harder time with being taken seriously.

A tontatta’s gullibility would be a doubled edged sword for her because while she could get away with more of her planning without any suspicion, many people would be less likely to believe genuine dangers she may attempt to bring up. For example, Kaido may not believe a tontatta informing him about Lunarians. If she actually tried to warn her family about Teach, they could easily dismiss her warnings with Teach’s manipulation while putting him on high alert.

It would be fascinating if being a Tontatta affected Alex’s mindset. While she would know from her One Piece knowledge that someone is lying, her mind would continuously keep trying to fall for obvious lies. Maybe she changes her plans to involve less talking to other people to avoid being manipulated and focuses more on stealth and evidence gathering.

It would be fun to see her weaponize herself by becoming a tiny haki cannonball and shooting herself at enemies. Maybe Earl gets a cute cannon helmet or a spitball method. It could ld be a strange game of catch where he would throw her through a ship and catch her on the other side. Her family thought it was fine to throw her like a fastball across Marineford when she was out of haki, what’s stopping her from perfecting the technique when she’s a more durable species? If Stefan exists, he could become Alex’s land mount, much to her family’s concern.

I could see other species also having their own divergences from your au and am curious on your own thoughts.

Okay first of all I will have you know I was in the process of carefully considering the options to give you a solid answer and then I got to Tontatta!Alex and my brain shut off. Because

Canon Alex is already so tiny compared to her Dad, I can't even picture how small a baby Tontatta would be. (This is the point where I actually went and made scale models to compare to the size of my hand) I regret to say that a baby Tontatta would be prohibitively small for Whitebeard to care for. However! The size difference between a normal human and baby Tontatta is similar to Whitebeard and canon baby Alexandria, so I say it's totally feasible that the Whitebeards could help their Pops care for the Tiny baby.

Being born as a Tontatta would not make her goals easier, but if anyone is up for the challenge, it's Alex. She would definitely need a new plan, though. She'd probably have to catch Teach in the act or fess up to Whitebeard ahead of time.

As far as Stefan, yes 100% he would be her new mount. Tontatta!Alex would definitely have an uphill battle getting used to her new form but once she's figured out how to use Haki and probably gotten herself a sick new Devil Fruit to even the odds, oh boy. Oh man. She would be a WORLD CLASS MENACE
