told my roommate about the Russian concentration camps. her only reaction was “i’m not surprised.”

i’m horrified about this news. i threw up this morning thinking about it. To have someone who I trust be nonchalant about this makes me sick. It makes me wonder what kind of person she is and what kind of person I am for being friends with her.

I can’t stop thinking about this. I don’t know what I can do to help but I know that my quiet horror is doing nothing.

I just keep thinking about that post: “people say what they would have done in the 40s. Do it now” and I know I need to act.

“Have you heard of this movie? It’s got like a gay, black gangster??”

Me: “Yes?”

“It looks really good! When I saw that I was like ‘that’s like three groups coming together!!’”

At this point she literally clasps her hands together like an incontinent toddler and squeals.

Me: “actually the director made a big point of making the movie intersectional to show that these things don’t exist by themselves…”

“God you make everything so complicated. Can’t people just enjoy things?”

realizing ur friend is homophobic and racist and likes to stereotype people… * “black gays are my favorite bc of their fashion sense-i mean black men have great fashion anyway but black GAY men…wow!” * “does it bother u when i say ‘dike’ bc [trans friend] said it shouldn’t.” * “i just recently realized ‘flamer’ was short for flamboyant!” yeah i realize bc you’ve been saying it in every fucking sentence.

when i try to tell her that 'flamer’ is kinda rude to say: “well it’s not if it’s true lol” when i try to tell her that some people would be offended by it “well people are offended by everything” * we were talking about a post that discussed what to expect at gay weddings including length of kiss and whether there’d be a drag show (wtf is wrong with people that they think every non straight person wants drag shows?): “well it’s a good point tho bc if they’re gay they probably know a drag queen who’ll probably come dressed up and bring the drag fam” that’s a lot of assumptions pal.

and then when i try to say u probably have some expectations of what the wedding will be like if u know the people involved she says “ok but gay people aren’t traditional and they like to be out there so it’s a legitimate concern” it’s a legitimate concern for someone to have their marital ceremonies in a way which they feel best suites the couple’s personalities and needs? * and then: “wow we’d be such a cute couple. i’m not gay for you and i’m not into women but we’d be so cute.” your personality is trash and you’re not my type so no fucking thanks. * gay people aren’t here for your consumption. stop trying to be an “ally” if you don’t care about what bothers your lgbtq+ friends. don’t talk about your “gaydar,” don’t try to get with your wlw friends, just stop. you clearly don’t care about anyone but yourself in this situation and i’m sick of you. we’re all sick of you.
