There was no denying it: Gotham was weird. And getting weirder by the day, it seemed. Murderous clowns, men made seemingly of clay, scaly killers in the sewers, the city seemed to have no end of strange dangers. For the most part, it seemed an equally strange figure dressed as a bat was able to keep most of this strangeness in check... for now.
But the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense was never the sort of organization to sit back and ignore the strange. The higher ups had definitely taken notice of Gotham city, and saw a potential for supernatural threat beyond even the fabled Batman's capabilities. And so, they had made the decision to set up an outpost of sorts, a Gotham Chapter where agents could keep a close eye on matters. Just in case.
A building was picked, a nondescript old factory in the city which looked no more remarkable than any of the handful of rundown old buildings surrounding it. But inside, the building had been remodeled, equipped with the latest tech, and filled with agents. Most notably, the B.P.R.D.'s most infamous agent.
So far, so good, Hellboy thought to himself as he glanced about the bustling building and the agents milling about. He'd been sent to ensure this new 'outpost' was running as smoothly as possible, and thus far there'd been no complaints. Save maybe one...
"A secretary?" Hellboy looked to the agent at his side. "Seriously? That's the only thing we're missing here?"
"We only need the one," Agent Paige mused as she looked over a few papers. "Compared to H.Q. in Connecticut this operation is relatively tiny. We should hopefully have an applicant coming in today for the interview."
"Huh." Hellboy shrugged his shoulders. "Seems like you guys are already on top of everything here... Makes me wonder what you even need me here, for."
Paige grinned. "Well, Red, if we get one of those clown attacks I've heard about, you'll be the first one I call."
"Gee, thanks."
