Genjo watching Tomoro being squeezed by HeliosBoamon, and getting a rather sadistic-looking grin. He's targeted Tomoro twice now, and I wonder what his deal is there with Asuka and his family. Is it just that they're interesting research specimens with the unique e-Pulses/necessary for the Shangri-La Project, because it's felt more personal.

From lonely kid to gaining a friend in Asuka to seeing him get beat up to birthing a Digimon and running away to all the happenings at the Five Stars, Nirinso and Glowing Dawn, Kyo sure had one heck of a life.
I like Wong's face here, has a subtle derangeness to it.
Heliosboamon is pretty cool, especially its fake left and right eye patterns.
Episode 43 (The White Digimon):
Asuka (Mind controlled w/ black e-pulse) vs. Tomoro...
Digimon Beatbreak Episode 42 Review - A Bleak Tomorrow
I’m feeling a lot of complicated emotions after watching this episode. I liked the flashback between Kyo and Asuka and how they first met and why they know each other, but, on the other hand, I do feel as if some of the episodes in the GIFT arc could’ve been used for this climax arc. I’m not sure if anyone remembers, but I did write a theory about how Asuka isn’t dead and that he’d come back possessed or a twist villain later on… Oh, how I wanted to be so wrong, but I’m not… I got it right and now I’m dreading the outcome…
The flashback of how Kyo and Asuka met was super cute. Asuka was a super extrovert while Kyo was an introvert who got into fights. The orphanage Kyo was in was a facility run by Tasuku Tenma, Asuka and Tomoro’s grandfather, who was housing orphans affected by the Kano Island incident, with Kyo being one of them. The way they met and how they became friends was adorable, but since the title of the episode is called “Cherry Blossom Friendship”, it was short-lived due to cherry blossoms symbolizing impermanence; it also means rebirth because meeting and caring for Asuka caused Kyo to be reborn as a Cleaner when Cougarmon was born. This means that Kyo became a Cleaner at 7 and lived that life for around three years before becoming a member of the Five Stars at 11 (It’s three, not four because Kyo was 7 going on 8).
A few details of the Kyo and Asuka flashback you might have missed: there’s a shot where Kyo and Asuka have a glimpse of Shangri-la Egg and it’s in the same state as it was during Maki’s flashback, meaning it was 15 years ago. A staff member that worked on this episode confirmed Asuka’s age in the flashback to be 7 as the staff mentioned Asuka’s behavior and movements was based on their friend’s seven-year-old son, which is cute. Since the current year in the story is 2050, the flashback took place 2035 and, since it’s spring, this means that Tomoro was only around 2 months old at the time (he was born January 20). It’s kind of hilarious knowing that Kyo and Asuka were having the time of their lives while Maki was out fending for her life in the same year and had to experience Panjyamon dying too…
I also like that this flashback gives a lot of insight to Dr. Tenma. He opened up the Sakura Orphanage because of his regrets for the casualties caused by him and Chairman Wong. He’s also the creator of the Sapotamas, but warned Asuka and Kyo to be cautious of them. He also seemed to be on good terms with his family as Asuka came to visit him occasionally and was even a drummer like his grandsons; given his hair color being closer to Asuka than Tomoro’s, he’s definitely his paternal grandfather as Papa Tenma has brown hair while Mama Tenma has purple with the yellow streak. Also, Yoshimura even tells Tomoro how he and Dr. Tenma go way back and it makes me wonder why this hasn’t been brought up until now… I wonder about Dr. Tenma’s current whereabouts…
With Kishiwada instilling himself as a prominent character for this final arc, I can’t help but wonder what role he’s going to play. A part of me thinks he’s going to be the final boss, but then that would make Genjo wasted potential since there were a lot of hints that Genjo would be the final boss. On the other hand, we don’t even know who Kishiwada is; is he human? Digimon? Also, why does he know so much about the White Core and how it harbored Asuka’s Digimon?
Yeah, the twist of Asuka becoming possessed was obvious, but I didn’t expect that Asuka would give birth to a Digimon with a power very similar to the one that Wong is seeking out. On top of that, it happened four years ago, meaning it hatched a year after the Tenma parents got arrested. Heliosboamon has a sun motif and Gekkomon has a moon motif. Are they trying to create an mon with an eclipse motif or something?
Speaking of Heliosboamon, they’re voiced by Yukana who voiced Lalamon and her evolution line in Digimon Savers and New Century as well as Sistermon Ciel in Ghost Game. I’m using they/them because I don’t know what gender Heliosboamon is; they could be female due to the female voice actress but they could be male with a female voice like Mephismon. Also, the pink-haired nurse is voiced by Megumi Toyoguchi who voiced Rui’s mother in 02: The Beginning; outside of Digimon, she’s known for voicing Dawn from the Pokemon anime and Junko Enoshima in Danganronpa. Also, why do people think she’s Jokermon’s Owner from Episode 28? Their voice actresses are different, meaning that they’re not the same person! Oh and if you're wondering about the voice actresses for young Kyo and Asuka...they're voiced by Pristimon and Maki's respectively.
Anyways, with the good news that Rose has been restored from Cold Heart, it does seem like she’ll be playing an active role later on but helping Kyo and his family. This would mean that Kaito and Honoka are not going to be active for the climax. Kaito has shown up a few episodes ago to stop Brilliant Thorns, but what has Honoka contributed to the story? I feel like she’s going to be the most wasted potential… Let me know your thoughts on this episode!

Now that we got an admittedly clunky backstory drop from Wong and company, I feel like it's a good time to try and lay out a few points on the overall Beatbreak timeline regarding Asuka and the episode spoilers. Most of this is assumption and presumption, of course - gotta wait for the rest of the show to see what gets elaborated on!
So there's three lines in the Asuka revival scene that stick out to me, specifically. Two of them are part of the same thought, so we'll adress them together.
I find the phrasing of this to be very specific. Not 'was born', not 'came into existence', but 'existed'. We know, of course, that this Digimon was HeliosBoamon in some form. Likely, it was their L6, cosnidering the second thought:
Note the Mega form here. It's not HeliosBoamon's current Perfect stage, but the Ultimate/Mega stae that's needed.
So, what does this say about the overall timeline? Well, we know that five years ago IC was when Tomoro and Asuka were left alone, after their parents were taken away. We now also know that a year later, HeliosBoamon acquired enough power to rival ZeedMilleniummon. With that said, I think we can assume HeliosBoamon existed in some form before the point they became the White Core and vanished. It could be from 'literally right after Kyo and Cougermon ran off' to 'later the day Kyo's parents were taken away' to like, right before then.
Either way, I think it's safe to assume there was at least a year, maybe longer, where HeliosBoamon was Asuka's PArtner. Asuka likely went out of his way to hide his Partner diugimon from Tomoro considering how little he knew. I also doubt HeliosBoamon was always HeliosBoamon for that year - Beatbreak always has Adult be the highest stage a Digimon could be born in, whenever a Digimon is shown being born on screen. So, likely, at some point HeliosBoamon evolves into HeliosBoamon, and then stabilizes at that stage permanently.
(sidenote but apparently the 'Boa' in HeliosBoamon' is spelled the exact same way in Japanese as the 'Boar' in 'Boarmon' is spelled? If true, likely means there wasn't a Boamon L4 out there...)
Now, to the four years ago part. I expect the thing that caught Genjo's attention was Tenma Asuka somehow evolving HeliosBoamon to the 6th stage, with the result being comparable to Zeed's power. We do not yet know why, how, or whatever - we can assume Tomoro was uninvolved, as he seems to not know jack shit about this, but otherwise? Who knows. I can assume the following, however.
Asuka likely realized how much power he had, and there's a good chance that freaked him out - not just because of having godlike power at his command, but also the fact he likely knew that the World Union was looking for that power. This power likely was enough to like, fight back against the World Union if he so desired, right? But I could see him both being scared of what having that much power would do to him as a person, and also of what would happen to Tomoro if he got caught up in the crossfire. After all, everything points to Asuka keeping Tomoro as blind to what's going on as he could as a side effect of functionally babying him.
Thusly, I imagine the White Core's creation was a deliberate choice of Asuka. He then likely hid the Core somewhere, and proceeded to lay as low as possible afterwards. If he doesn't have a Digimon, then there's no reason for the World Union to go after him, right?
(Ignoring how quickly Gokuwmon was there implying the World Union had eyes on him and if they got the White Core beforehand they probably intended to just kidnap Asuka and force him to restore it or some shit but shhhhhhhhhhhhh)
How does Kyo play into this? Well, he probably was there I imagine. I can't see the writers not having him know what exactly went down, and they'd probably do so by having him be there for HeliosBoamon's evolution.
so yeah
A Reptile Ultimate Digimon covered in glittering white scales. The white scales covering its body vibrate at an extreme rate when exposed to sunlight. After constricting another Digimon as its prey, Heliosboamon uses these extreme vibrations to break the body down into the smallest pieces of data. This data from the destroyed Digimon is then absorbed through its scales as nourishment. The ornaments Heliosboamon wears on its head, neck and abdomen are made of Gold Digizoid and function as protective armor. Since these ornaments gradually grow larger over time, a Heliosboamon with large ornaments can be said to have survived long-term amongst fierce competition. At a glance, it appears that Heliosboamon has three eyes, however only the one on its forehead is an actual eye. Those on the left and right are simply patterns and do not function as eyes.
The large, ring-shaped accessory on Heliosboamon's neck can generate laser-like blades that spin rapidly. Using its most powerful offensive technique, Soul Pulverizer, Heliosboamon rams into opponents with these blades spinning at high speed. It also possesses Restrict Eye, which allows it to paralyze anyone who meets the gaze of the eye on its forehead. Typically when hunting, it holds its prey in place using Restrict Eye, finishes it off using Soul Pulverizer then constricts the body to break it down and absorb the data.
Due to its scales being most effective when exposed to sunlight, Heliosboamon tends to dislike environments with no light. For this reason, the best strategy when targeted by Heliosboamon is to flee to a dark place that light cannot penetrate.
Tomoro crying with joy when he sees that Asuka is awake was so sweet. Too bad the guesses about him being brainwashed into becoming a World Union puppet ended up being entirely correct.
(also, him not being annoyed at all when Gekkomon interrupts the reunion and stops him from running over. He's confused, but still willing to hear his little brother out)
