My Unpopular thoughts about The Remarried Empress
Just watched a video on the remarried Empress and that made me confirm a lot of things I thought.
The characters could've painted a different story (first of all, I'm not a writer, so I'm not trying to say what I think is best, just giving my two cents on the issue as an outsider).
Navier and Rashta had a LOT of potential as both female characters who were opposed to each other in personality, education and circumstances in general, but could've been key pieces in the story if put together as allies or maybe, even unlikely friends.
Sovieshu and Heinley, in my opinion, are a disappointing duo of male characters/leads. Way too shallow and soft (yeah, sorry, for me, that is). Not only that. Ironically, Sovieshu, that shitty dude, had more of a personality than Heinley ever did. However, he just HAD to be two dimensional because that's how this line of stories on webtoon works (not all of them, but most of it).
The writer tried hard to make it seem like Heinley had a "hidden" nature of being ruthless and a cruel monarch, but that didn't work for me as his life revolved around Navier 90% of the time when he was not touching on the affairs of his kigdom/empire. The guy literally had NOTHING to do with his life anymore ๐คฃ
As for Sovieshu, the plot "arc" of the realization that divorcing Navier was a mistake actually made sense. Rashta wasn't ready or even remotely competent enough to take on the job of Empress and he, as her husband and Emperor, was paying the price for it. But, again, I think his characterization was... lackluster, to say the least. He acted like a moron whenever both Navier and Rashta were involved. And yes, I know he didn't really loved Rashta and was secretly plotting her demise for his plan to succeed (which, to be honest, was one of the few depth points about him), but, every one of his actions towards her and the Empress were just too excessive.
