I have to say that how Navier, Heinrey, and Sovieshu's relationship(s) end is so funny.
Like, Sovieshu really divorced his wife, who married someone else and had kids, but those kids occassionally go stay with Sovieshu like he has shared custody.
With just a bit of tweaking, this would be the perfect sitcom.
It's weird to me when people try to say Navier is worse than Sovieshu, because here is him taunting is wife about how her toddler child will be sold into slavery:
“Go to the justice and listen to what he says,” Sovieshu said calmly. “He’ll tell you what your crimes are.” “I’ll tell him!” she said desperately. Sovieshu eyed her warily. “Tell him what?” “That you knew I was a runaway slave from the very beginning! I’ll tell him everything! If I’m going to die anyway, then why wouldn’t I? I’ll tell him all of it!” Rashta was shrieking with everything she had, but she was no match for Sovieshu. He didn’t blink an eye. “Then tell him.” What? “You’d need evidence to prove it,” he said. “Even if the people believe you, they’ll only say I was a foolish emperor, blinded by love. Nothing more, nothing less. And how long would that piece of gossip even last?” “But—” “Has it occurred to you that the real victims here are your two children, who look just like you?” She felt almost dizzy; he’d changed the subject so quickly. “Wh-what are you—” “I mean, your firstborn is going to become a slave, whether or not you tell the world about my complicity.” Stunned, Rashta stared at him. “What are you talking about? What about Ian? Why would he be a slave? What did he do to deserve that?” “Both his father and mother are criminals,” he reminded her, with mock gentleness.
And here is the proof that he actually let that happen:
After asking for breakfast to be brought to him, Sovieshu ate at his desk while looking over his work. He’d put off a lot, knowing he was lacking in experience. But at some point, he planned to carry out orders himself. To do so, he had to study as much as he could. After ordering the servant to clear his bowl away, he called his subordinate to ask if Ian had been found yet. “Yes,” the subordinate replied. “We found the records from when he was sold into slavery, which explain where he went.”
Like, Navier is a shitty person. She's not much less culpable on the issue of slavery than Sovieshu.
But Sovieshu was the one who plotted to humiliate Rashta in a national level. He gave her the power to commit mistakes and crimes, and instead of intervening immediately when he realized she shouldn't be empress, he stockpiled evidence against her for the day he would bring it all to light and deny any share of the blame.
He sentenced her to perpetual solitary confinement, and even hoped she'd last longer than she did because he enjoyed hurting her.
And whether through actively selling Ian or just standing back and letting it happen, he enslaved a toddler. He enjoyed it, too.
I can understand saying Navier is just as bad as Sovieshu, but there is no logical reason people can say Navier is worse. I kind of feel at that point, it's just that people hate Navier so much they want to pretend those around her are better.
Bitches be like Rashta this and Rashta that yada yada yada and then making Navier the scapegoat.
Do you think Navier has ever committed any crimes the way Rashta did?
But then, you cowards freely say "She's (Navier) complicit in slavery that threw Rashta into living a life like in hell. Why would us root for her?"
WHERE??????
WHERE THE HELL CAN YOU SHOW OTHERS ABOUT ANY PASSAGES OR PANELS THAT CAN SUPPORT YOUR CLAIM/ARGUMENTS????
I hope you go through things the same way Navier did.
I'm wondering if it's socially and ethically acceptable to depict my OC as a princess who often wears Boa Hancock-like high slit dress in The Remarried Empress AU.
Like, you know, fashion-wise, every girl or woman is just prim and proper there. Have you ever seen like a noble woman dresses herself in revealing cuts? For instances, uhm, thighs and cleavage here and there?
No sarcasm. This is a serious discussion 😊

One thing that makes Sovieshu and Navier so unsympathetic is that they aren't completely unaware of slavery being bad or how it affects people. But they seem to feel like it has nothing to do with them. Take this section from Vol. 3
I sat by the window of the parlor and looked at the moon at length, mulling over everything in my head. Rashta’s past was shocking, yes, but I didn't delight in the idea of bringing this news to Sovieshu. The Rashta who had done those things was not the same Rashta who was beginning to bloom as the new butterfly of high society. She wasn't the same Rashta who had the emperor’s affections lifting her. Nor was she the same Rashta who attacked Kosair with lies and sought to mimic me among the nobles. The Rashta who had been a slave and left her child behind had been at her weakest moment. To expose Rashta was not a matter of sympathy, and it wasn't because Sovieshu had asked me to show her pity from the beginning. No, it was a matter of my pride. Not to mention that this Viscount Lotteshu was a man whose credibility was in question. He may have told Kosair that Rashta abandoned the baby, but who really knew the truth? Only the two of them truly knew whether the baby was abandoned or taken from her.
Navier talks about how Rashta "did those things." Like they are crimes. "Those things" being having a baby and running away leaving him behind.
She recognizes slavery is horrible, but she can't fathom why that might make Rashta be willing to run away and leave her baby. Even if Navier didn't know the full circumstances, she had to have known there was a possibility Rashta was raped. But that doesn't factor into any evaluation.
Moreover, even if she feels bad for Rashta, there's no moment of guilt. She's the empress. She can do things that would end slavery, either immediately or in incremental steps. She can help promote rights for enslaved people. But she acts like slavery is just a fact of life. And yes, that would have been a common view in a society like the one. But the empress still can't dodge responsibility.
...
With Sovieshu, he frequently talks about what Rashta must have gone through and inequalities in education... but he seems to feel that's all other people's fault. Also from Vol. 3
On his way to see Rashta, Sovieshu saw a familiar, repugnant man. It was Viscount Lotteshu, the man who had had Rashta in his possession in her days as a slave. Viscount Lotteshu quickly bowed down once he saw Sovieshu. “Oh, Your Majesty, what a surprise meeting you here…” Sovieshu’s eyes narrowed. That was what he should be saying, not the viscount. Sovieshu knew that Rashta’s hands and feet were rough and full of scars. They were the scars from her hardships when she'd been a slave. And Viscount Lotteshu was the very man who had worked her so hard. Moreover, the viscount had even tried to bury Rashta in high society. Sovieshu didn’t welcome the idea of such a man coming to visit Rashta now. ... A runaway slave and a former master. The two were like water and oil, but Viscount Lotteshu’s visits were too frequent. The more the two met, the more Viscount Lotteshu’s denial of Rashta ever being his slave became more convincing.
Sovieshu has seen first hand what slavery has done to people. His mistress and future wife bears the scars... but he puts that entirely on Lotteshu. Nothing to do with Sovieshu.
There is never a time when Sovieshu toys with the idea of ending slavery or creating better human rights laws. He's appalled when Rashta sells Lebetti into slavery. But he never extends that horror to cover slavery in general.
He never thinks, "I helped do this. Rashta's scars are in part because I, as emperor, allowed this to continue. And there are lots of children just like Rashta and Lebetti."
If anything, he is more to blame than Navier. He has more power. His family has been upholding this for generations. No, he didn't invent it, but as long as he is emperor and benefits from the system, he holds the blame.
I was playing obey me!: shall we date? and I was telling my sister that I didn't like Lucifer because dilfs weren't my type and she went
"you know who likes dilfs? Sovieshu."
She then went on to elaborate that's why he married Rashta because she had white hair
...
Lowkey he does give that vibe.. yk, his daddy issues...
le chant des oiseaux : ff, rewrite
Heinrey/Sovieshu.
“Everything went terribly wrong already back when the crown was lowered onto his head. But it became worse when the boy with violet eyes looked at him for the first time. Looked at him as if he had seen something he could not turn his gaze away from. Sovieshu knew that he had brought this misfortune upon himself.”
