βοΈ + Emmrich. Because after your memento mori fic, i gotta pick your brain for more emmrich thoughts pretty please π₯Ίπ
leeeeee!!! anything for you πββοΈπππ
tag game | memento mori (mind! the! tags!!! oh my god please mind the tags lmao...)
caveat that i have Not played or even watched his romance yet, altho following So Many emmrichmancers has definitely given me some insight hehe
lichdom
i absolutely believe that he wants this, desperately. i think that it ties into his desire to teach (pupils for all time!), his desire to learn/witness, his fear of death, and a sense of responsibility to the necropolis
however
i am of the opinion that he won't actually... like it, in the long run. i'm going to make him a lich in my current playthrough (literally created sybil to be someone who would do every single thing differently [except for the ending. i am too much of a solas fanboy to do differently there lmao]) and i'm very curious to see how it plays out/am not suggesting that saving manfred is the Good Option or anything
but i can just see it being very, very hard on him over time. because he does seem to love so deeply and so desperately and so fervently. and i think he will continue to find love! whether he's with rook or not, i think - mortal or lich - he will have the chance to find love again. and as a lich, given the timeframes, i think it's almost inevitable that he will. but he will lose it again, too
he fears his own death, but i think his own death being prevented while he's required to watch all his loved ones die would take an immense toll on him, someone who is so devoted to those he loves, who is so desperate for them to stay, for it to be real, lasting; for it to be everything
(this is part of the appeal of lich!emmrich/solas to me tbh! two very lonely immortals being able to find each other and being able to stay... π₯Ίπ₯Ίπ₯Ί the ship appeals to me on many fronts, but this is definitely one of them!)
johanna & loyalty
this is one of my favorite things about him, because i think his line to johanna, about how he would have helped her achieve lichdom through unconventional means is so telling. and to me, it suggests that emmrich's morals, his entire moral core if you will, is less rooted in distinct principles and more rooted in deep loyalty. which ties into his deep need for love and for connection
emmrich is and has been planning to become a lich. it's not an abstract concept, but a real one, complete with responsibilities: to the necropolis, to nevarra, and to death itself. to become a lich lord would require that his loyalty is to these things rather than to an individual
and i'm not saying he would fail at that. i think the enormity of that responsibility and the faith in being granted the right to do it would be huge forces within him. but i do think his dynamic with johanna/his profound loyalty to her is so, so interesting to pick at in regard to his desire for lichdom and the responsibilities therein
