The most important thing you must always do before styling your hair with heat is to apply a heat protectant. I have been doing this for quite some time now and have definitely noticed a difference in the texture of my hair compared to before when I did not apply any heat defence. 

Seeing as I have just posted a review of my favorite hair tool Nicky Clarke DesiRED I thought it would be quite appropriate if I posted this straight after. I meet a lot of girls and guys who use heat on their hair daily but then complain that it is destroying their luscious locks. The first thing I ask is whether or not they use some sort of heat protection on their hair. It is always a no, always! I can not stress enough how important it is to not skip this vital step, I promise that it does not take up any valuable time. 

I have tried many different brands who offer heat protectants, most of which are great and seem to do the job just as good as the next. There has only been one which I have really disliked which was the Schwarzkopf got2b Guardian Angel. I really did not enjoy this product at all but that is not to say that somebody else would not too. 

The heat protectant that I am using at the moment is the Alberto VO5 Heat Protect Styling Spray. This is definitely one of my favourites as the nozzle evenly distributes product evenly throughout my hair and does not in any way make it feel sticky or stiff. I do also find that if I spray the product lightly throughout my hair when wet, it makes brushing my hair a lot easier! 

I have highly enjoyed the VO5 haircare line. I absolutely love their shampoo and conditioners as well. The products are an absolute steal for the price! I will do a thorough review on the VO5 haircare products I am loving in a different post as there are quite a few which I would love to recommend to all of you. In the meantime, if you are looking to try out a new heat defence product or have never tried one before then give the VO5 Heat defence a whirl and let us all know what you think in the comments below!

VO5 Heat Protect Styling Spray Click Me

I first purchased the Nicky Clarke hair straighteners around two years ago due to my previous straighteners almost electrocuting me! I am not going to name and shame the previous brand as I believe it was a one off incident. I chose to replace them with the Nicky Clarke DesiRED straighteners (I believe they capitalised RED as the line of hair tools are actually red in colour) The reason I chose to go with these was because I have cut my brothers hair many times using the Nicky Clarke hair clippers and found that they were really good in comparison to other clippers we had tried. Another reason why I chose these was because there was a claim that they were supposedly better than GHD's. Now I did want to purchase GHD straighteners due to the amazing reviews but thought I would take a risk by spending just a little bit less and giving another brand a shot at the winning prize. 

Now can I just say that I have tried many straighteners over the years and not one has even come the teeniest bit close to the Nicky Clarke DesiRED ones! I get so many complements on how healthy looking my hair is and people always ask if I use a shine spray as my hair looks so glossy, but I don't! As I have mentioned in previous posts, my hair is now very long and quite thick too. It typically takes me a lot longer than the average person to style my hair but since using these, it has made my life so much easier. There is a heat gage (as you will see in the pictures) which allows you to adjust the temperature according to your hair type. They highest temperature is 230°C which is very hot! I have never needed to use a temperature at this level (I have the gage set between medium/thick or if in a hurry just thick) but it is great to have the option for thicker hair types.

The nano silver tourmaline ceramic plates make straightening your hair a joy as the plates just glide effortlessly. I have never really enjoyed styling my hair until now. Before I would spend at least 45 minutes just to straighten my hair whereas now I could do it in 10 minutes if I was in a rush!

Definitely do consider purchasing the DesiRED straighteners if you are on the lookout for a new set as they are amazing. I do not have anything bad to say about this product and I am definitely looking to try the hair dryer and the curling tong next!
