Being comfortable and happy with our lives is not always the easiest thing to accomplish. Sometimes it takes a lot of thinking to really see how lucky we truly are. By sitting down and writing out the things you are most grateful for, you will begin to see what a great life you are already leading. 

One of my new years resolutions was to become a more positive/happy person. I have moments in life where I am beyond happy and the next moment I can hit a complete low. To begin my journey, I wrote a list of everything in my life which I am grateful for. I actually surprised myself with the size of the list, it was a lot longer than I initially expected it to be! This is because I had actually took the time out of my day to really think about the great things in my life. Although there have been a few bad times, such as losing a family member, the good times have definitely outweighed them. 

The next step was to create my own wish list of what I wanted to achieve in 2013. This helped me to realise what my actual goals and dreams were and has made me more aware and focused on achieving them. By writing my goals down, I have created a clear image of what it is I need to do and I am also able to make plans on how to make these goals come to fruition. 

My final step to being a more positive/happy person was to create a vision/inspiration board. I have already dedicated a blog post to this which is linked here: Creating an inspiration board This is something which is there to remind you of what it is you are working towards and why you are willing to work so hard towards it. Make sure to keep your board in sight as a constant reminder. I have set my inspiration board next to the mirror I get ready in front of every morning and on my iPad screen. 

Gratitude is something which we often overlook. Everybody has moments of ungratefulness which is highly understandable when going through difficult times. Taking a good hard look at everything good in your life will start to make you appreciate the people around you and also appreciate yourself. You probably work a lot harder than you think and need to learn to appreciate your abilities as well as those around you.

Makeup is a great way of expressing your personality whether it be simple and elegant or bold and bright! Taking note of the latest beauty trends for the season always helps give me a little boost of inspiration and pushes me to try new things I would never of tried before! 

Although some trends may seem a little scary, do not take them too literally. Use trend tips and adapt them to your liking.

Pink Lips

Pink is the new red for S/S 2013! If you would like to embrace this trend but do not want to go for a bold lip, gently pat the lipstick on your lips evenly and apply a thin layer of clear gloss over the top

Matte Lips

Matte lips (and nails) are a huge S/S trend this year. If you do not want to spend money on a new matte lipstick, apply a lipstick that you already own, blot off any excess using a tissue and then gently pat some translucent face powder over top using your ring finger

Bright Eyes

Step away from the nude shades, be bold! This trend calls for bright shades of eyeshadow and liner. Applying shades which compliment your eye colour will be sure to make you stand out

Bold Brows

Bold brows have been on trend for a few seasons now but continue to stay on top. By filling in your brows you are able to beautifully frame your face. As I said before, do not take each trend too literally. You can still achieve beautifully shaped brows without going to the extremes. Swapping eyebrow pencils for eyebrow shadows is a great way to tone down this look.

Whilst searching for the perfect silver heel last week, I spotted these in Next. I could not resist from making that cheeky purchase as a girl always needs new shoes, right?! I was so impressed by the quality of these shoes that I had to write about them! They are exquisite considering the £30 price tag which is an absolute steal. 

These stunning silver slingbacks have a shimmer effect which makes them a great buy for any elegant event. They have a 12cm heel so make sure that this is a comfortable height for you before buying. Lastly the slingback detailing is adjustable and extremely comfortable, making these shoes a lot more comfortable for longer wear.

The Ciate chalkboard manicure kit come with a matte base, 4 chalk pens and a sealing top coat. This manicure seems so simple! All you need to do is apply the base, create a design of your choice on top of that (you can wipe away any mistake with a wet cotton bud) and then seal it all in with the mattifying top coat.

I ended up selecting 7 polishes which is a bit odd seeing as they are 3 for 2 at the moment. As there are so many to choose from, I suggest planning out what colours you like before spending hours in the store. 

Below are the 7 colours I chose from the Sinful Colors collection. A few of them may seem quite similar but the finish is very different on each polish. Up to now I am very impressed with the brand, the prices are amazing, £1.99 and 3 for 2, how can you go wrong?! I have not tested the durability of the polishes as of yet but will do so, reviewing them individually over the next few months.
