Something to keep in mind: It's often assumed that a low carbohydrate diet is the natural choice for those with diabetes. This makes logical sense: if your body has additional trouble managing blood glucose then don't consume glucose But while a lower carbohydrate approach does have validity in those with diabetes - especially type 2 diabetes - this doesn't mean it's the only thing that does Consuming fibre from all sources - including higher carb sources like whole grains and pulses - appears to improve outcomes for people with either type 1 or 2 diabetes, indicating that a higher carbohydrate but lower GI approach to eating can be highly effective at managing the condition This is great news for those that want to manage their blood glucose but who don't want to cut out bread, potatoes, and other whole food carbohydrate sources And it also serves as an important reminder that there are usually at least two methods that can get a given result. We just need to find out what they are #fiber #healthyfiber #diabetescommunity #diabetic #diabetesmanagement #nutritiousfood #nutritioncoach #diabeteslife #type2diabetes #diabetesdiet #diabetescontrol #diabetestype2 #diabetesprevention #diabeticfood #diabeticproblems #diabeticfriendly #diabetesprevention #diabeteslifestyle #diabeteseducator #diabetestype1 #diabetesawarenessmonth #nutritionist #nutritionfirst #nutritiongoals #nutritionblogger #nutrients #lipidprofile #glycemicindex #prematuremortality #bodyweight #weightloss https://www.instagram.com/p/CCVLSEaJMxk/?igshid=wi3shqjtuk6u

Blueberry Oatmeal
For starters, this one-minute-breakfast is a much healthier option than the McMuffins your fellow dorm dwellers will be eating in the morning. Pick up a bag of organic rolled oats, a carton of almond milk and fresh blueberries the next time you’re at the grocery store. Microwave your oatmeal with almond milk (instead of water, for added protein and flavor) and top with blueberries… and maybe even a shake of cinnamon too. You can even put it in a to-go cup to eat on your way to class. by Allison Norton September 22nd, 2014
