Dollars to Donuts

With the plastic container of the bistro’s pre-made salad in one hand, Marie Dufresne used the other to toss her fishtail braid over her shoulder with a small laugh. she didn’t blame Roy for his assumption. Half the time she ran into him she was fresh from a workout, him typically entering the gym around the time she was leaving.
Apartment complex living and all.
“Ah, no it’s not that,” she admitted, giving a small pout to the greens in her hand, “it’s just that I woke up ca-ravvving this one donut from that novelty donut shop on Main Street, right?”
With a sigh, annoyed with herself, she shifted her weight and slapped her palm into her forehead.
“But I overslept by like fifteen minutes, and by the time I got there they were all sold out of them.”
Handing the clerk her credit card, she shook her head. “It’s like, you know when you’re just looking forward to something so bad and then you get there and you can’t even have it? It killed my vibe for the whole day.”
