The sun,
An orange
Casting light onto the white, ceiling
Setting
And the radio waves,
A gigantic tide,
Sweeping over the bedroom
Filling it with serenity
And the most bittersweet anticipation
Where our alternate world slept and thrived
And we drifted into our alternate life
The whole world waited outside the door
With the lock turned upright
Settle down, he said
The soft sounds filling our ears
And racing through our veins
We didn't know what was to come
But we saw the water rippling in the shadows
And nothing else mattered
We sat on the very edge of the mattress
In complete silence,
Thoughts racing through our heads
Telling us that we're fine
And that time is nothing but an illusion
And that the future is waiting for us with open arms
We were safe in the embrace of the March light
April, May, we waited for time
But time was waiting for us
And the streetlight that sat a block behind
It saw it all,
The flourescence ingiting the void inside of us
And lighting the street
Pulling us into our dreams
The floodlight, it only saw what the night brought
Which was more of the same,
Mail batteries glowing in the dark
And laughter echoing through the four walls
And escaping through the cracks under your door
Which we covered with blankets to keep our laughter
At a lower volume
So we didn't wake the ghosts down the hall
We were free
