Medication nightmare
So ever since the doctor ordered the HCG trigger shot it has been a nightmare trying to actually get the medication. I thought it would be fairly simple, drop the script off at the local pharamcy and pick it up in an hour or two. Ha, not so much. CVS calls to tell me they have no freaking idea what the perscription is for and have never heard of it. They can't even pronounce the name (apparently no one in watertucky has issues conceiving but us). I tell her it is a fertility med and she says she is going to call her distributor and call me back. A few minutes later she calls me back and says they figured it out and they can order it but it will be $170! Yikes! She says there is a provision on my insurance that it can be submitted for prior approval. So Cat, the pharamcy tech, puts a call into the doctors office to see about geting prior authorization. Waiting on the authorization she calls back yet again and wants to know if I want the med either way because they will have to order it and it will take a week or so to come in. I told her I would wait to see what the prior auth comes back with... Which turns out to be a big fat NO. I decide to try and shop around a bit before ordering it for the hefty $170. I call a couple of places and find that Costco offers it for $43!!! I am so excited. That is so much better than $170. I quickly pick the script up from CVS and drive to Costco. Fast foward to today. Mike calls me to tell me he picked up the Clomid but there was a problem with the trigger shot. Something about it not being available until August or September. What?!! I can't wait that long. So I call Costco. The pharmacy tech informs me that the shot is back ordered and that there is only one distributor of the med. She says the only way I will get it sooner is to call and try to find a local pharamcy that has it on shelf. Great. More calling and researching and I find two options. One is a local Walgreens which wants $130 or an online fertility medication company that wants $79. Well neither is as good as $43 but I go with the cheaper of the two. I call my doctors office, explain the situation and ask if they can call in another prescription to the new pharmacy. The nurse takes the number from me and tells me she will call me back after she calls it in. She calls me about 15 minutes later telling me I am all set. Fabulous. So I call the pharamcy to make sure they have the script and give them my personal info. The representitive informs me that it has not been entered into the computer yet and to try back later. Ok, no problem. A couple hours later I call them back. Guess what? They don't have any prescription order for me. Oh my God I want to scream!!!!! "What do you mean there is no order?!" "You must be mistaken. The nurse said she called it in. Please check again." Nope, nada. Grrr... So in a last ditch effort, I take the copy of the prescription and fax it over. I have no idea if they will accept it but I figure it is worth a shot. I really don't want to have to pay over $130 for this med! Now I wait... Again.
