I associate the Togami family as a whole with butterflies because butterflies usually favored by the majority. They’re usually seen as superior since at first glance they’re pretty and nice. However, once you look at them through a microscope you quickly see that they are no different from any other insect out there, they’re just as ugly as the rest—if not uglier. And that’s only in terms of looks, behavior wise it’s much worse. The media portrays butterflies as elegant, put together creatures. In reality, they frequently consume blood, sweat, tears, and feces, and can even become intoxicated from fermenting fruit, They also engage in survival tactics such as drinking from rotting carcasses. Butterflies truly are repulsive creatures when you look into them even a little. Just like the Togami family is. The average person would assume a family of such high status would be perfectly put together as well. And even if not, I have no doubts they made sure their public image was crystal clean. But once you learn more about the traditions within that wretched family it becomes blatantly apparent that they are just disgusting.
