Dear Peoples, I’ve been thinking about this for the past couple days and thought I’d share it with you. When I think about it, I often hear people say that the people who weren’t there for them are the reason why they’re not shit in the first place. I completely disagree. The people who aren’t there for you are the reason why you work to become the shit, to show those assholes that you can do good (hell, even better) without them. We’ve all had our shares of letdown and disappointments from people who claim to have our backs knowing damn well there’s a knife in their hands just waiting to stab you like they’re Michael Myers. But in the end, we owe all of our accomplishments to the people who weren’t there to see those same accomplishments. It’s because of them we worked our asses off, it’s because of them we started to prove ourselves more, it’s because of those same occurring, sorry ass, disappointing people that we were like “You know what? Imma show you how much I don’t need you. And when you try to come and take part in my shine, I will have someone quietly escort you out.” Like Frank Ocean said in that song “There Will Be Tears”: “He said it wasn’t so bad, you can’t miss what you ain’t had” Don’t waste your time sulking about how someone wasn’t there for you because at the end of the day they were never worthy of being in your presence because your presence is a present.
