I will never understand the anime’s decision to stop adapting cover stories. Especially when they’re writing filler arcs as to not catch up with the manga.

The cover stories would be great little episodes inbetween arcs like they do with the filler. But it’s not really filler because it’s canon. The kobymeppo episodes shows they’re capable of translating these cover stories perfectly and extend them over a few episodes.

Like why can’t we have a animated version of Ace pretending to be a marine because he wanted to deliver a letter for some girl. Which is CANON btw, and a perfect little inbetween ‘filler’ episode.

Especially because these cover stories do show important little snippets that give context to the world of the show and as a anime watcher you are missing out on that.

For example, Hachi meeting Camie which becomes pretty important later on. Wouldn’t it be fun to already have seen them meet so when we get to sabaody we already know they’re friends.

I hope the remake does do this. Even if it’s short snippets. The cover stories add so much depth to the world.
