Norway is pretty progressive, but it’s not utopia. There’s still homophobia and discrimination towards lgbtq+, but not as prevalent as what we might see in america. Say something homophobic publicly and you will get called out. That being said it’s not like it’s all love, acceptance and understanding across the board. What she said was a very narrowminded and shitty thing to say, and that’s probably why they included it in the show, it’s meant to challenge and educate.

Norway is progressive af.
Ahahah thar’s two different attitudes. I’m from Italy, and I grew up in a really catholic 400-people village surrounded by other really catholic 1k-people villages. Really catholic as in “once some people wrote a letter to the bishop asking him to change priest because the current one was being too progressive”. So I mean, that shaped my experience pretty much. Plus the whole debate around queer couples adopting children (in Italy’s not legal), like... we’re not progressive. The only progressive thing we have in that regard is that queer people can donate blood since... 2001 I think.
So I mean, Norway is not utopia but it feels like it’s better than Italy in this regard, especially since my experience is not the happiest one :)
