Harris's Hawk
The bird is called a Harris's Hawk, which is a raptor that can be found in South America, Central America and the far south of the US. The bird is unlike most birds of prey, in that they often hunt in packs. They can also run fast on the ground if necessary. They're also a favourite for falconers due to their intelligence.
This picture I drew is based on a photograph that my hubby took when we both visited Huxley's Bird of Prey Centre in Horsham. I also had the pleasure of flying this bird. It was the first bird that I ever flew. I think its name was Gizmo, and the photograph and this picture might well be of him.
