Dear Diary,

I thought it was all going well, me sneaking out I mean. Let me tell you what happened. I woke up early this morning, threw on my favorite black skirt and turquoise leather vest. I looked good and I felt good. Nothing the darkness said could bring me down. I tossed my bookbag over my back and headed to my mother’s room to give her a kiss goodbye. She was sitting up when I entered. That meant today was going to be a good day for her too. “You look better today, mom.” I smiled at her and she returned it.

“I feel good,” She replied. “Are you leaving now? It’s early, are the others dressed too?”

“Oh, I don’t know what they’re doing. I’m heading out early to meet with Braylen and study for an exam we have 4th period.” Pax, Nerissa, Camilla, Braylen and even Harmony knew that I was skipping classes. They even covered for me. Pax knew how invasive and intense the darkness would get when I was attending my classes. He rather me be happy. Camilla felt the same way and convinced Harmony to go along with it. Nerissa,she just doesn’t care if it doesn’t benefit her so she doesn’t say anything about the whole thing to my parents. Anyway, my mother wished me good luck on my test and kissed me on the cheek. I checked on Emerson and Peyton, who were still sound asleep, before heading of for “school.”

“Who even invited you into the shot?” Pax groaned, nudging Leon. “You’re totally blocking me.”

“I’m like family by now!” Leon glared at him. “Your mom invited me personally.”

“Yeah, because Gracie likes you,” Camilla said. 

“So you’re on his side, are you?” Leon glared at her. “I thought we were friends.”

“Friends would imply that we hang out, which we don’t,” Camilla said. “Because you don’t like Pax.”

“Because he’s a jerk,” Leon said. He looked to Gracie for help but she just shrugged. 

“No, you’re the jerk!” Nerissa cried. “Pax is so nice, and you just make fun of him all the time.”

“Rissa,” Graciela said. “Leon is just joking.”

“No he’s not. He’s so mean.” She crossed her hands over her chest. “Why are you even friends with him?” 

Leon’s face fell. “Wait, do you guys really think I’m mean? I’m not mean...am I?” 

He turned to Graciela who shook her head. “No, you’re not mean.” She turned to the rest of the group. “He’s not mean. Pax, you know that.”

Pax nodded. “You’re not mean, Leon. You’re just annoying. But so is Gracie and we still like her.” 

Harmony watched the group argue and joke, in silence. Being in Fortitude, she realized just how shy she was. 

“I’m NOT annoying!” Gracie stomped her foot and glared at him. “Neither is Leon.”

“Just get married already.” Nerissa rolled her eyes. 

“Are you guys done? I’m just trying to get a picture.” Ethan smiled weakly, watching the kids bicker. He had missed out a lot on their lives and had more than enough ground to cover.

“Just hurry up and come downstairs,” Wolf called. “Your dad is glaring at me!”

“He glares at all the boys,” Harmony called down. “I’m almost done. I’ll be ready soon. I want to look my best. It’s my first Valentine’s Day date.” It was also her first date in general and that made her even more nervous. Wolf was nonchalant about the idea. But how could he be so calm in a situation like this? Her first date. With a boy. And it was Wolf Azure, whose father was old friends with her father. 

She had been taking her sweet time getting dressed because she wanted to impress him. Forgetting the fact that when he had asked her out, she was in sweat pants and wearing no makeup. It was an off day for her, but he didn’t care. Wolf was never one to show his emotions, and the idea of Valentine’s Day, he had told her cousin Graciela, was not something he cared to entertain. But, Gracie ssured her cousin that he was willing to wait on long lines for subpar dinner service if that’s what Harmony had wanted. And she did want that.

She took one more glance in the mirror before exiting her room. Her breath caught in her throat when she saw Wolf in his usual attire. He hadn’t even bothered to dress up. Not that she was expecting him to. In fact, she loved that sweater because it reminded him of his mother and that thought made her smile. 

How could he choose someone like her? She was ordinary. A witch sure, but she wasn’t kick ass like Gracie or Camilla and she wasn’t funny like Nerissa. She didn’t see a reason for him to pick her when he could have had her cousin. “You look great,” Wolf said, in a daze. He wasn’t expecting her to look that stunning. He was caught off guard, and suddenly felt under dressed. 

“You think so?” She muttered. He could only nod, reaching out his hand to help her down the staircase. 

Zayne hovered over the two. “I want her home by 10pm. If she is even a minute late, you will regret it.”

“Daddy!” Harmony cried. “Stop it.”

4.23 It’s A Gray Thing

Zayne carefully picked up the limp unconscious body of the boy who had been willing to give up his life to save Harmony. The dog followed closely at his heels while he carried Charlie into the bedroom. Laying him carefully on the bed he turned to find Millie and the girls crowding in behind him.

"What can we do for him?" Millie asked looking down at the boy.

"Make him comfortable and hope she was successful in getting all the poison" Zayne squeezed her shoulder "if he wakes up and attacks you or otherwise appears threatening knock him out."

"But...."

4.22 Good Intentions

"Who are you?" Quinn demanded of the woman standing within her haven.

Turning the woman eyed her up and down before relaxing enough to offer Quinn  a smile "my name is irrelevant..."

"Not if I say it isn't" Quinn approached her visitor "what dimension are you from?"

"Tsk tsk so many questions" the woman shrugged "I am Irina Zohn dimension watcher. Five dimensions to the right of yours."

Wolf stopped talking when he heard the clicking of heels and saw the girl he had just been talking to wave to her father. He smiled at her proudly and waved before heading away from the door. Wolf let out a sigh. That man…

“Harmony!” Callen called out and waved the girl over. She looked up startled, and then smiled when her eyes landed on Wolf. “Now she’s here,” Callen muttered. “Get her, tiger.” He winked.

Wolf sighed and rolled his eyes. No. It wasn’t like that. What did Callen know anyway? He was pining after someone who clearly didn’t even want a relationship. Still, Harmony did look gorgeous in the pale pink dress that complimented her skin nicely. She was like him….colorful. Except her heart probably worked a lot better than his did. “Hey, Callen. Hi, Wolf.” Harmony tilted her head and smiled at the pair. “Were you dropping the boys off?” She asked Callen.

“I was,” Callen said with a smile. “In fact, I’m running late for my reservation. It’s just up the block but, you know…parking. Hey, maybe you can stick by Wolf’s side tonight. He only really knows you and Braylen, and I think Braylen is going to be preoccupied tonight. He’s always excited to see Pax.”
