Hast Du mich schon mal angeschrieben und Dich wenigstens für mein „Tun“ bedankt oder wurdest Du anderweitig vorstellig? Natürlich nicht. Du lustlebst nur in Deinen Gedanken. Troubled Adventure - 08

1. Chirurgie- surgery

What and why French? Why are you like this? When I first saw this word I was like this is a joke, someone is making a joke about French spelling, but nah, this is real, no one could make this up.

2. Accueil/Accueillir- welcome, to welcome

This is probably the hardest word to pronounce in the French language. Do you guys remember ‘sight words’ from elementary school, the ones you just had to memorize because sounding it out didn’t help? This is the only sight word I’ve come across in French.

3. Dont- grammar thing that hurts

I’ve been studying this language for seven years and I only just figured this one out. I think the problem is we don’t really have an equivalent of Dont in English because we can just end sentences in prepositions. How many times have I gotten to the end of a sentence and then realized that that ‘que’ should have been a ‘dont’ and now I sound like an illiterate fuck

4. Voler- to steal/to fly

Ah yes, we have one the one verb that means wildly different things based on context.

« Il a volé un avion. »

“Oh, he flew a plane?”

« Non, he stole it.»

5. Dessus and Dessous- above and below

Not only do I have to think for a hot second to remember which one is which (Dessous has sous (under) in it) but they also sound the same to me when they’re said aloud (they’re not supposed to).
