You shouldn't take everyone's words as the truth, because people can lie.

5 French words that trip up native English speakers
1. Chirurgie- surgery
What and why French? Why are you like this? When I first saw this word I was like this is a joke, someone is making a joke about French spelling, but nah, this is real, no one could make this up.
2. Accueil/Accueillir- welcome, to welcome
This is probably the hardest word to pronounce in the French language. Do you guys remember âsight wordsâ from elementary school, the ones you just had to memorize because sounding it out didnât help? This is the only sight word Iâve come across in French.
3. Dont- grammar thing that hurts
Iâve been studying this language for seven years and I only just figured this one out. I think the problem is we donât really have an equivalent of Dont in English because we can just end sentences in prepositions. How many times have I gotten to the end of a sentence and then realized that that âqueâ should have been a âdontâ and now I sound like an illiterate fuck
4. Voler- to steal/to fly
Ah yes, we have one the one verb that means wildly different things based on context.
« Il a volé un avion. »
âOh, he flew a plane?â
« Non, he stole it.»

5. Dessus and Dessous- above and below
Not only do I have to think for a hot second to remember which one is which (Dessous has sous (under) in it) but they also sound the same to me when theyâre said aloud (theyâre not supposed to).
Bonus. Le Phoque- seal (the animal)
This oneâs not hard, I just canât say it without giggling because I am a child.
Too Challenging
Writerscreed Challenge:
Dear friends, risorgimento
is too hard to use
in any poem I write,
how about using rebirth?
