Thought Bites

flowing around the thin air

where I thought hope lived, underestimated fog

suddenly knocked them all down.

sadly it's often our way

limits and delays

expenses and who knows what,

we bite bullets or give up.

escaped from its old tameness

not needing workers

grows raspberries on its own

the ones once living there gone.

stumble with the morning light,

how time devours all,

the requisite race we run

vanishes without a trace.

ever enlarging stockpiles

ready to engage,

the Devil's tools for mankind

only offset with prayers.

not telling its story, why

no one wants the truth

itself another story

the tranquil silence contains.

often rocking to and fro

the careless fall off

on top those doubly sure

they can conquer the whole world.

Among my fathers

my old body longs to lie

edging to that grave

day by day faster each year

until at last my soul flees.

politics wasn't so crazy

Americans loved

other sides were still good friends

no one sold their opinions.

giving you a haunted chill

marching down your spine

especially when alone

causing you to feel you're not.

it's not some sort of defect

at the tunnel's end

keep on looking straight ahead

and imagine the end point.
