I found this poem I wrote in 2016 after one of the hardest breakups of my life (what I thought at the time) Ten years later, I can finally appreciate how much I’ve grown. I thought it was worth sharing.
Happily Never After
And before I go…
I’d like to say that I absolutely hate loving someone I no longer agree with. Someone I once believed was the man of a lifetime. Someone who promised me the world and beyond, only to disappear like lightning—powerful and luminous, then instantly gone in the blink of an eye.
I treasured your affection, infatuated with your touch.
Every piece of you, I learned to admire. You were perfect.
Everything you presented to me felt genuine.
I will never forget what it felt like to have such deep compassion for another individual. It was your soul that captivated me. You illuminated my path and opened my eyes to what I believed was pure—a world I had never experienced before, a future I was ready to face together.
I learned patience. You were a gentle aggression, and somehow I could see through it. I believed in you.
It was a beautiful journey that would soon become tarnished, eventually mutilated by misfortune.
Your once-open nature became discreet. Then impenetrable. Opaque.
In disbelief, I witnessed the beginning of a revolution.
Not wanting to dwell on the pain or the scrutiny, the memories of those moments continued to linger in my mind—repetitive, as if I hadn’t already lived through them enough.
I found myself drifting into a darkness I had never known, asking only one question:
How could I restore my life?
Months of sobbing and sleepless nights made it feel as though the pain would last an eternity.
I fell into isolation, embracing solitude for weeks at a time, forgetting that I still had a purpose.
The actions of another, completely beyond my control, left me contemplating life itself.
With time—though not willingly—I reclaimed my self-worth.
Yet even now, I still spend nights wondering what could have been.
Something so grand.
So rare.
So pure.
Perhaps, in another life…
Endless.

Introduction..
Dating today can be difficult for some, while for others it is comes so easy. Some, just want to mess around, others want their happy ending. You have your, (what used to be the normal way) meeting someone in person, asking them on a date, getting to know them, people. You have your, getting set up by friends or family, going on blind dates people. You have your, going to parties or bars, going home with someone people. Then you have your, meeting someone online people. No matter how or where you meet someone, sometimes it goes amazing and you find your happy ever after….. and sometimes things just go completely wrong. I know, I know, nobody wants to end up alone like the creepy old dude down the road, or the crazy cat lady next door. You just gotta find that one person, your person. I am just here to talk about the dark side of dating. You know, the disaster dates, the creep you met online, the catfish, the horror of dating. That way, if you’ve just had an awful date or are just exhausted from dating, or whatever the case may be, you can read this and say “Hey, at least it wasn’t that bad”. Or maybe you’ll just read this to get a laugh or to learn about “red flags” to look for that you didn’t know about. I’ll be posting some of my bad experiences or horrifying dates, as well as others. Feel free to send me your disaster date experiences or someone else’s. I’ll keep them anonymous, unless you want me to mention or tag you. Stay safe🖤
