Of course, he didn’t tell you where you were going, just that you should dress nicely and not to eat beforehand. So you dug through your closet until you found something a bit more fancy and put off having dinner until he picked you up. Your clue by then was that he was in a suit and you were glad at least that you didn’t underdress for whatever meal you assumed you were having.

But still, you didn’t expect the set up.

He had rented out the whole rooftop terrace of the restaurant just to give you the privacy to relax and eat freely. You had no doubt he had carefully curated the playlist and knew every song you would hear all evening to make sure the mood stayed just right. The terrace had a beautiful view of Seoul that in and of itself was breathtaking but it almost paled in comparison to the decorations.

Among the trellis and hanging flowers were strings of fairy lights, covering the place in a soft glow. They ran up overhead and along the railings that looked out over the city. Your table was placed in the centre with your favourite wine ready to be served and tall white candles lit in the center next to a bouquet of flowers.

Ever the gentleman, he made sure to open doors and pull your chair out and it might just have been the classiest evening you’d ever had. You told him as much and it brought a grin to his face.

“You know you’ve screwed yourself over though,” you hummed. Joshua gave you a curious look between bites of his meal before you continued.

“This is just a date, what are you going to do when our next anniversary rolls around?”

Joshua grinned again. “Ye of little faith, I always have something up my sleeve.”

You chuckled, that much was true.

“Well,” you continued. “Then I look forward to the day you propose. That one will be a doozy,” your words broke off into a laugh at the somewhat shocked look on his face.

“Maybe I haven’t thought that far ahead yet…” he mumbled.

“Don’t use up all your good ideas too early,” you replied, sipping your wine.

The evening continued like that until you left, Joshua refusing to let you see the bill and insisting this evening was on him and joking that you could cover the next rooftop meal. You let him take you back home, driving through the bright city streets, even late in the evening. He took the time to walk you to the door before stopping to say goodnight. A coy glance and a sweet kiss that lingered a little longer than you meant it to, and then another followed.

“Shouldn’t I be letting you get some rest?” Joshua asked against your lips, though a grin was forming on his own.
