The Little Giant hammer base build is done! Oiling it tomorrow and will anchor it to the floor when the hammer arrives just in case I need to shift it a little one way or another. It is 3.125” thick and is 22”x29”. The iron is .250” wall and it has 4 sections of 1/2” all thread running through it. The 3.25” white oak base for the power hammer is cut, jointed, planed, glued and clamped. I will trim the ends, plane it all again as one piece , apply a significant amount of BLO, and the attache it to the 3” angle iron with 4 sections of .5” all-thread. I didn’t quite have enough oak for the base I am building for the Little Giant power hammer, so I sourced a piece of 12/4 and NICE 40” hunk of 16/4 - both white oak. Really pleased with the growth ring spacing and overall quality. I WANT to tell you about the spectacular deal I got on it, but…. Nope, full retail on this one. It’s fine.
