what do you mean classical school? how old are you?
Hi! Take that “classical school” with a grain of salt. I was trying to somehow transalte the title of my high school.
Lemme explain. Here in italy when you’re at your last year of middle school (so around the age of 13/14) you start having this thing called “school orientation”. That’s needed cause in our country high schools are divided for field of studies, so the students must understand in a clearer way what are their options for the future.
Liceo classico: the one i went for. It focuses on the study of the classic society (intense study of philosophy, latin and ancient greek).
Liceo scientifico: it focuses on the study of scienifical subjects (intense study of chemistry, math and physics).
Liceo linguistico: it focuses around the study of multiple languages (like spanish, french, german, russian…when you join this school you have to choose two languages to study besides english).
Liceo musicale (conservatorio): it focuses on the study of instruments and music in general.
Liceo artistico: it focuses on the study of painting, taking photos, editing and that stuff.
Liceo delle scienze umane: you study about psychology and its applications.
I may have forgot something, but these are basically the high schools that base themselves on theoretical studies. If that’s not your cup of tea, you can always go for an “istituto tecnico”. Here you will lear more about the practical applications of stuff (hydraulics, electronics, cooking and those kind of things). This kind of high school is getting more and more popular in the last years, mostly cause while a “liceo” puts you on the path of going to collage, these guys give you a bigger chance to find a job immediatly.
This is basically all you have to known about the high school system in italy, even tho i semplified everything to make it more clear.
Oh and btw i’m 20 years old, i’ll turn 21 in october. Thanks for passing by, and i hope i helped you understand! ;3
