Kid to Columbus...
Motorcycles have always been my eye candy, right from the childhood! As a child I had build a repertoire of images, posters, specifications of motorcycles and cars, and magazines. I was keen follower of the developments in the automobile industry. I knew about all the automobile models, including those of trucks, tempos, scooters etc., on the Indian roads. I remember I could identify any motorcycle just by hearing to its exhaust note - my friends used wonder “how”, and I could not explain. :) Motorcycles were and still are my dream world. Because motorcycles keep one young, they will always have safer place in my garage. “They” because I have always wanted to see my own four motorcycles in my garage: a supersport, a cafe` racer, a naked-street, and a sportster-cruiser. Sounds crazy, eh? But aren’t dreams supposed to eccentric. Right now I have no garage and have only one, but awesome motorcycle: Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTDi (more about experiences with this motorcycle in separate posts) but it’s just the matter of time that she gets some company! :)
We didn’t have any motorcycle when I was kid. Sometimes dad used to take me for a ride on my uncle’s IND-Suzuki, a 2-stroke 100 cc machine, and that used be heaven on earth! Dad has also been fan of Motorcycles. But for some reasons he had to get rid of his Enfield Explorer, a 2-stroke 50 cc, and according to dad a pretty mean machine of that era, and did not get another for a long time. I do not remember about this motorcycle, except a couple of images in my memory. Unlike today, only big celebrations and occasions deserved photographs, so sadly our Explorer was not photographed.
