Half-Elf Wizard
Hey everybody. Got a little busy on Wednesday, so this will be the only post this week. But I’m going to try and pour all my writing energy from this week into this post (well, maybe ike 90%), so let’s get to it!
Half-elf wizards may pursue the arcane arts for similar reasons to their half-orc counterparts. Power is appealing to those who may be disenfranchised or actually looking to distance themselves from their community. If your elves/humans are heavily druidic or clerical, wizardry might be a path that your bitter half-elf NPC could pursue. However, turning it around, wizardry could be the way that the half-elf is delving further into their community. Living in a big tower, surrounded by floating crystals and elves with familiars? Show everybody up by becoming powerful enough for an Outsider familiar! Human family having a problem with a local mephit? Threaten the elemental entity with banishment to their anti-elemental plane. Distrustful town folk find you unnatural and abominable? Throw a wonderful party with unseen servants and decanters of endless whiskey (patent pending).
Theofania Konyktous [Illusionist]
While her family was warm and loving, Theofania never felt like her destiny resided in their isolated elven citadel. Once she felt she had learned enough to keep herself alive, she gathered up her belongings and headed out into the world her mother had told her about in childhood. While she was initially met with distrust and even hostility, Theofania’s charm and personality won over several people she met. Her beautiful illusions, combined with her elven story-telling, made her fans in both common folk and nobles. Now, she’s one of the most popular entertainers in the country, and uses her fame to try and bring people together.
Ximeno Abarca, Seer of Lomani Cafe [Diviner]
The barista of the cafe traded Ximeno a scone and cup of coffee for a reading. When his prediction turned out to be remarkably accurate, the owner offered Ximeno a few meals to be read as well. After his reading pointed to business opportunities which turned out correct as well, Ximeno was offered a gig as an in-house fortune teller. So far, Ximeno has kept up the charade, but he’s worried how long he can keep up the act. He only really has three tricks: he can cast detect thoughts and hear what his clients are thinking before they talk to him, making him seem pyschic; he can use locate object to find lost items or people that have such items on them; and he can use a slight variant on true strike to make sure that the next mundane thing a person does, they can do really well. But Ximeno knows he can’t keep this up forever. And he really likes the scones.
Kadek, or “Kindly One” [Transmuter]
Throughout his life, Kadek has been told to forgive and show empathy towards those who revile him. But now, his family is dead at the hands of those they forgave. So the only empathy he will show them is quick deaths. He animates ropes to strangle them in their sleep. Alter self allows him to poison them with the faces of friends and family. His preferred method is to use elemental body, become water, and drown them on land. Kadek doesn’t care if he’s damned, or if his family is crying out from beyond the grave. All he wants is revenge, and he can take it.
Introducing Vincent Aulorean! A traveling magician, Vincent throws his lot in with the party to make a few extra bucks, what with the demand for his special brand of illusion kinda drying up as of late. More than anyone else in the group, Vincent’s the first on the scene with a quip or a one-liner, whether his pals are in the mood for it or not. He’s a firm believer in the tried-and-true methodology of “cast a random spell at it and see what happens”.
Another character sketch, this time drawn by Vincent’s player CyberLink420 AKA Luke (who also drafted this post; what up, listening audience?). Keep a close eye on this wizardm’n, because you never know what he’s going to pull out of those oversized robe sleeves of his next...
