thinking about how all the days i’ve thought ab my skin tone, thinking i was “not brown enough” bc im half white, about how many ppl called me white or even half white and it hurt me sm. but like skin colour isnt defined by anything. skin colour? it isnt any one thing, whether ur multiracial or completely one colour. u still have diff tones on diff parts.
i’m half white, yes. but my skin colour is all shades of brown. i have always been perceived as brown by white people, and brown people too—im the same skin tone of our closest indian family friends. yet people call me white, half white, whatever consistently and yes, im that in birth. yes, it has impacted parts of me. but it’s not like im cut in half, one part white one part brown. im not a fraction you can solve in math class.
