Doctors are to black women what police officers are to black men. That may seem controversial but I believe it to be true and I speak from personal experience.

If you've seen this TikTok you know that a 2016 study showed that 50% of medical students and residents thought that black people couldn't feel pain the same as white people.

And we learned from this video that because of a 1999 study, to this day, there's a black correction factor for the creatinin levels in black people's kidneys, meaning we're less likely to recieve a kidney transplant if needed.

So if you go to a doctor, feel you aren't getting proper treatment or they refuse the treatment you've requested, say to them the following:

If you weren’t already going to spread this advice because black women are at risk, then spread it because it’s applicable to everyone else as well, including you reading this.

Molasses pecan cake

Ingredients:

Cake:

1 3/4 cup flour

2tsp baking powder 

1 cup either water, milk, or any plant based milk you like

3/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup molasses mixed

1/4 cup neutral oil

Optional 2/3 cup rolled oats 

Optional 1/2 tsp pumpkin spice

Topping:

1/4 molasses and 1/4 cup sugar mixed

1/3 cup either neutral oil, coconut oil or butter

1+1/3 cups whole pecans ( feel free to sub in walnuts or almonds)

Steps:

Preheat the oven to 350 and line a 9 inch round pan with parchment paper crinkling up a piece slightly larger than the pan being used. Un crinkle the parchment and it should be maleable enough to press into the round pan and stay put. 

Next Sift all dry ingredients excluding oats into a bowl. 

Mix molasses, sugar, oil and 1 cup of your preferred liquid in a separate container till well combined 

Slowly mix half the wet ingredients into the sifted dry ingredients 

Mix the rest of the wet ingredients in until just combined. If the batter is runny this is fine.

At this point if you are using oats Fold them in little at a time till just combined. 

Set your batter aside.

place your whole nuts in a zip top bag and bash with a heavy object the till in nuts are in small pieces.

put a pot on the stove on medium heat to make the topping

Add to the pot your oil or butter and your sugar and molasses 

Cook, stirring continuously on medium heat till the sugar is melted and the mixture is gently bubbling. Be careful not to burn the mixture. A good way to know it’s ready for adding the nuts is when the oil is mostly incorporated when you stir it. if a few teaspoons aren’t incorporated still that’s fine. 

Turn off the heat and Stir your crushed pecans into the sugar mix.

quicky spread this mixture into the bottom of your prepared pan before it hardens. 

Pour your batter overtop and bake it for 40-45 minutes 

The cake is ready when a toothpick inserted comes out clean and is no longer sticky with crumbs or batter.
