One of the best Barun Sobti interviews I have seen.
Also, Anmol is literally one of my favorite interviewers: respectful, well informed, asks the right number and the right kind of questions, and a good listener.
And I probably just respect and love Barun more.
@ridzmystique our random wish of Barun doing a good interview just came true!!!
anyone else watch halahal???
i’m so glad to see my mans sobti in a role that really let him shine. the movie itself is relentlessly bleak, but he was honestly the brightest spot in it, and brought the levity that was much required. and that ending, damn.
i don’t wanna “review” it and spoil it, coz 1. it’s meant to be watched and experienced, and 2. it’s pretty dark and i don’t wanna dwell on it and get even more depressed with y’know, the state of everything in this goddamn world; but if you’re okay with watching something sombre rn, it’s definitely worth it for sobti’s character and performance.
i’ll just end this post with my favt bit, this little dialogue he keeps repeating:
Halahal Movie Review & Discussion I Barun Sobti, Sachin Khedekar I Iss Podcast Ko Kya Naam Doon?
In this episode of Iss Podcast Ko Kya Naam Doon we venture into new territories by reviewing our first ever movie! One that's been highly anticipated, as far as Ridz & S are concerned anyway. Halahal, starring Barun Sobti and Sachin Khedekar in lead roles is an unexpected take on a crime-solving duo of a corrupt cop and a grieving father, respectively. We split the review up into a non-spoiler and a spoiler section for your convenience. Hope you enjoy!
With Love,
Go Watch Asur & Halahal
I recently came across an interview where Barun Sobti said how people and agencies are “dismissive” of television actors. This is heartbreaking, because it is true.
Guys, actors are actors
And Barun is one of the FINEST actors of our times - severely underrated and misunderstood. Do watch his films and projects - support independent actors!

Hey AJ! How are you doing? You wanted randomness so here you go: What is the last Bollywood movie you have watched that you would recommend? Sincerely, I-have-the-long-weekend-off-and-need-something-to-watch
Hello Mutton!
I am doing well :) Haha thank you for responding to my most sincerest request:
The last film I saw was Halahal.
And I absolutely recommend everyone to watch it. From an objective point of view, it’s a great mix of grey characters, pitch perfect dark humor, epic dialogues and stellar performances.
Yes, it’s a serious film and the narrative can be a bit too deep or it might be easy to lose focus a slight bit - especially when we’re approaching the climax and there might be a sense of no closure, but this film is wonderful!
At 97 minutes it’s tight, realistic and great depiction of the darker issues that plague the Indian society barring any gruesome scenes. The best thing about this film, especially considering its genre, is the fact that neither the writers nor the director delve into displaying any sort of gore or excess of violence.
They rely heavily on allusion and subtlety to tell the tale so it’s actually a very easy watch. And that is fantastic!
Much love and I hope you’re doing well,
- AJ
Hi JWB..
Happy Valentine's day
I am asking this question as a fellow Barun Sobti fan..Did you happen to see the movie 200 Halla ho?..I saw it recently and applaud the way it opened my eyes and I was appaled that I wasnt aware of the real incident when it happened..
But the question is about the extent of Sobti's role..the way the movie was marketed and how many interviews he gave and the reviews which talked abt his performance i was expecting something mearier and longer..he appears in a sum total.od four scenes and I was disappointed by the way I thought i was mislead..do you have any thoughts on the matter...or is this an unjustified rant?
Take care
Happy (Belated) Valentine’s Day dear!!!
(EDIT: ANON ASKED ABOUT HALLA HO AND I ANSWERED FOR HALAHAL SO PLS IGNORE THE ASK)
Halahal? Oh yes, I really liked it and was charmed by a certain police inspector. Yeah unfortunately it is an extremely realistic take on such scams. That’s why it hits hard.
Hmm I’m surprised because I did feel he was the parallel lead. He has a full character arc. Yes he’s not the primary protagonist because it’s the father that’s running the story but I did feel he got his moments actually.
I watched the film with absolutely no expectations apart from the fact that it deals with scam and there’s police drama in it along with thriller. So for me Sobti’s character was a pleasant surprise.
I do think he got his due here. It’s Tu Hi Mera Sunday - that whole film was criminally underrated and undermined.
And coming back to Halahal - his character was very instrumental and he did get a lot of scenes to show his range - be it dark comedy or emotional.
In my opinion I do think he got a good role and it was shown well in the film. He definitely got more than four scenes.
It’s also a relatively shorter film than average! But that’s all from my opinion, maybe there are others who felt what you did?
Best,
- JWB
Halahal review
Barun Sobti and Sachin Khedekar make this thriller worth watching, says Namrata Thakker.
IMAGE: Barun Sobti in Halahal.
Directed by Randeep Jha, Halahal is a murder mystery set against the backdrop of a medical college scam.
The film is loosely based on the infamous Vyapam scam which shook the nation in 2013.
When Archana, a bright medical student, is found dead on Ghaziabad highway, her…
