âI know you spoke at the funeral.â Eto leans against the door.
âO-OhâŚâ He scratches his head, caught somewhere between sheepish and shameful. It makes her nose scrunch up. âHopefully I wasnât too bad.â
âHopefully,â she repeats. âSo: what does your bureau chief want with me this time?â
Mentioning business puts him back on track, thankfully. âHe just wanted me to check on you, see how you were doing. May I come in?â
When he steps forward, she does the same. âAs you can seeââ she gestures to herselfâ âIâm the picture of health. No abnormalities here, so you can be on your merry way, âkay?â
âMs. Eto, I canât just go.â He looks behind him for a second. âThey want a full report.â
âWell, lucky for you, thereâs a nice coffee shop a couple neighborhoods down. Thereâs books, half-decent food, and a cute barista for you to ogle at. Bye now!â

seto x reader x haizaki: poly relationship headcanons
this relationship would be a mess
honestly, who knows how it would even come about - it would have to be some kinda scenario where zaki and seto and you are childhood friends, because no way in hella would zaki consider sharing an s/o otherwise
the thing is, the two boys have v different personalities â> itâs like theyâre speaking different languages â> arguments
for example, haizakiâs very possessive, and does get jealous quite quickly, whereas seto either doesnât give a shit, or just pretends not to notice
which leads to haizaki getting mad about how the two of you are treating him like the third wheel (he basically throws a little temper tantrum, storming around the house, whilst setoâs still lying on the couch, half asleep, and youâre rushing after him trying to calm him down)
haizaki rarely will hold a grudge against you, but, man, he can be pissy with seto for a while
seto just really doesnât help himself. something about the way he acts like he couldnât care less about what haizakiâs ranting about, and how heâll be fading back to sleep as haizaki curses him, just fuels haizakiâs anger
in short, really not a good relationship
(i do also think haizaki would probably have a good amount of internalised homophobia, which further sours his relationship with seto)
but, anyway, even with all this shit going on, there is still the occasional fluffy moment
you and seto studying together - haizaki just complaining about being ignored in the background (if you stroke his head as you work, heâll whine a little less), until you have a question about sexed/physical education for him
even if he hates to admit it, haizaki really likes being able to help you with something (his eyes light up, just a little)
also haizaki and seto have a lot in common
both have older brothers that they lowkey respect, both donât particularly care about basketball -> so, when theyâre not in another argument, they do actually have a lot to talk about
also theyâre best after basketball practices, when theyâre too tired to egg each other on
lots of post-practice naps together
setoâs the best person to sleep beside, as that man just doesnât move in his sleep, and heâs v v warm
haizakiâs awful, cause he stretches out like a starfish and moves around nonstop (often falling out of bed)
but, as long as youâre beside seto, haizaki wonât wake you up
other things:
haizakiâs big on pda, though just with you. seto isnât a fan of it, but does like to kiss haizakiâs forehead, just to wind him up (again, internalised homophobia -> in public, haizaki likes to pretend that he only has a girlfriend, and that setoâs just a friend)
kinda-cuddles where youâre doing haizakiâs hair, and setoâs rested his head on haizakiâs lap, maybe telling haizaki stories about what the kiridai team got up to today
(haizaki really likes hearing stories about how they get away with injuring people. heâs still mad that his own team wonât let him do the same.)
anyway, in general, the relationshipâs practically just a little family
where youâre the mother (constantly worrying about making sure everyoneâs getting along), setoâs the father (who just doesnât really care about anything at all) and haizakiâs the toddler who demands attention or else he cries all day
(thatâs a joke. he doesnât cry. he just whines.)
(also now i think about it; this relationship is shitty, but, with time and the chance to adapt and understand one another - and with haizaki supported in dealing with his issues - it could lowkey be very cute)
Typically, Eto would wake up and think, This house is too big.
It isnât, and never will be, a statement without merit. Arima was a ghost in his own home, which meant she was the only one roaming its halls, and to her, for this kind of house and for her to be alone, sheâd come to recite the complaint like a mantra.
Despite leading with the word âtypically,â she doesnât not wake up and think, This house is too big. Rather, the word âtypicallyâ is meant to emphasize that that was where the day ended. After that, she would roll out of her bed thatâs a half-size too large, grab her pajamas and glasses on a dresser thatâs a half-centimeter too long, and stumble to the kitchen with a ceiling thatâs half a head too tall.
And at that point, the atypical appears.
First, a smell. Thereâs a smell coming from the kitchen, and while itâs smoke, itâs unfortunately not smoke alone. Itâs accompanied by something⌠pleasant, and disgustingly pleasant at that. The stark difference from the normally stale air she breathes stops her in her tracks, and the tingle in her brain at the prospect of foodâ not just stale bread, but actual foodâ makes her recoil.
Second, some noise. Thereâs someone causing the smell, and theyâre humming while stepping about the one creaky floorboard before the stove. Humming, in her household? Itâs so odd, so foreign. Thankfully, when she pokes her head around the corner, all humming and other related good-natured noises come to a complete stop as Haise Sasaki freezes in his tracksâ because sheâs glaring. At him. Sheâs glaring at him in her flower-patterned pajama pants and maroon sweater. Truly a frightening sight. He might as well already be dead.
Then again, heâs not much better, wearing a white tee and blue shorts that are a little too high up his bare legs (really bare, to be clear. So bare and smooth, she could mistake them for the delicate legs of an insecure lady instead of some random Washuu lackey). Thereâs also an apron around his waist and a dirty spatula in his hand, neither of which are helping.
And thatâs the third and final thing. Not Haise Sasakiâs taste in fashionâ though thatâs part of itâ Haise Sasaki himself. The fact that heâs not only where Eto can see him, but that heâs also in her house. Her house. The house that she bought, because Arima was out working and apparently, they needed to âtake the next stepâ in their relationship (ârelationshipâ)â a step that he wasnât even there to take with her.
And Haise Sasaki now stands, uninvited, in that space.

do you ever think about haise and eto? like as a form of etoken
it's crossed my mind a couple times, yeah! hmm, how best to put this...
ah, under the cut!
Sen Takatsuki.
A global phenomenon, according to statistics. Once-in-a-lifetime talent, according to reviews. Pleasant company, according to her coworkers.
All things that Haise Sasaki refuses to look up.
Itâs not that heâs childish or stupid; heâs well aware of her writing style and her books. Maybe too aware of it, from a certain point of view. When youâre a reader as avid as he isâ he decorates his room at the Chateau head to toe with shelves full of the thingsâ itâs nearly impossible to not encounter the heavy-hitting name that is Sen Takatsuki.Â
He just doesnât like her books.
Thatâs all.
He has nothing against her as a person.
In fact, heâs willing to bet sheâs a very lovely person.
The genre of the book doesnât always reflect the personality of the author, after all. Sometimes, people just really liked and excelled at horror and blood and guts and all that junk.
That sort of stuff just isnât for him.
And thatâs even accounting for his job as a ghoul investigator.
That said.
Sheâs her own person.
She makes her own choices.
And for one reason or another, she has chosen to say hi.
ââââââââ
It's less that they meet up, and more that she finds him.
Haise feels like he could consciously try to avoid her, but that thought is immediately followed up with the fact that it wonât make a difference. Sheâs found him in coffee shops, walking the streets, and alleyways where he thought he saw something suspicious (why she went down there just to talk to him was beyond him). So now, when she sticks up her hand and shouts his name, he resigns himself to yet another lengthy conversation with someone he canât even consider a friend.
And today, that person corners him at the grocery store.
âHaise! Well, well, well!â
If thereâs one thing heâs learned lately, itâs that Sen Takatsuki marches to the beat of her own drum, and it just so happens that said drum is completely out of tune with his own, because he needs to get these groceries back to the Chateau in time for dinner, and his latest investigation, unfortunately, kept him longer than he was expecting.
But neither can he leave this new acquaintance hanging, no matter how badly he wants to avoid her.
âMs. Takatsuki,â he says, hands full of bags.
âShopping for the day, are we?â She pokes her nose directly where it doesnât belong. âLetâs see hereâŚâ
It doesnât matter how much he tries to shift the bag away from herâ itâs like sheâs teleporting around his defenses.Â
âCooking again? Doesnât that get tedious?â
âNo, not at allâŚâ
His response, of course, doesnât actually matter; she always ignores him.
âI mean, think about itâ itâs just food. No matter what you do to it, youâre just gonna get hungry again, so thereâs no need to be particular about any of it. And donât give me any of that ânutritionalâ bullshit; itâs all gonna go away and rot along with your body when your time comes, and maybe sooner than you think. And you decide youâre gonna cook on top of all of that nonsense! Youâll never get anything done! Youâre really just taking that sad, silly life of yours and throwing it away like itâs garbage! Well, maybe it is, if youâre doing something like this, haha!â
Was an authorâs life really that busyâŚ? She also snuck in a few insults like she always did. What part of him thought she was lovely? Heâd like to have a stern talking with them.
âBoiling water takes forever, then you have to dice these veggies and crush the garlic. Plus itâs a huge mess to clean up. Thatâs why I donât; too much of a hassle. I guess the eggs wouldnât hurt anyone. Iâll concede on that point, and only that point. I like me a fresh egg. Salt, pepper, and riceâ a true classic!â
Theyâd been talking and walkingâ well, Takatsuki had been talking, Haise was busy walkingâ along the way. He doesnât want to show her the exact address of the Chateau, but fortunately, thereâs a train ride between here and there. Heâd lose her then. Hopefully.
He just has to ride this out.
Haha, good one. âTrain.â âRide.â
âYou, uhâ For someone who hates cooking, you seem to know your way around some of these, Ms. Takatsuki,â he points out, hoping to pivot the subject to her.
âIâm an author, unfortunately. Itâs an occupational hazard. Youâve read my works, havenât you?â
Unsuccessful.
âNot⌠reallyâŚâ His chin itches at the statement.
âBetter get that fire extinguisher, âcause someoneâs a big, fat liar!â She cackled. âWatch, you know this lineâ
âI really wouldnâtââ
ââBefore I knew it, nine thorns leapt from my thoracic cavity. My diaphragmâââ
âMy diaphragm trembled as if it were about to cry.ââ
He finishes it without thinking, much to her delight.
âAnd done and done! See, you can use that brain of yours!â She giggles and dances before him, twirling with little care for passersby.
If he didnât know any better, heâd say he was watching a young girl frolick instead of a grown woman. But that wasnât really important, and he doesnât really care for that comparison. People always say he has a bit of a babyface, and itâs kind of a sore spot for him. He doesnât want to be a hypocrite.
âAh, I loved writing The Black Goatâs Egg,â Takatsuki muses and falls into pace with him again. âSuch a landmark in my career, and after a bad case of writerâs block too!â
@haiseto replied to your post: âdumping more kamiyoshi headcanons ي(ËáË*)Ů these are mostly â if not...â:
ah I love reading your hcs! they're so similar but different. Kaminaga seems a little more outgoing and accepting, where as Miyoshi is just..a narcissist, lol. I thought the part about their arguments was very true :o (and modern aus are great!!!)
aaah gosh thank you!! (//â//) it makes me really happy to hear that!!
Iâm not sure?? where I said this, so sorry if Iâm repeating myself orz but I just love!! the idea of Kaminaga and Miyoshi as sort of like differing equals (does that make sense??? roflmao idk itâs late here) -- similar but they display those similarities differently, like in the way that you said >v< They kinda even each other out like that, I think ovo and when theyâre not arguing, they can make for a great team ;v;Â
(yes modern AUs are great indeed... everyone is happy :â) )
