Okay so my first foray into the internet Romanov community involved a documentary about “what if Anastasia survived”. It was absolute nonsense (though I do have a soft spot for it) but I made the mistake of picking a fight in the comments with someone who believed all the Romanovs survived. The amount of people who believe the Romanovs survived is kinda terrifying ngl. Stuff like faked bones, illegitimate Romanov daughters, some vast conspiracy. Like there’s this whole book The File on the Tsar (which came out in the 70s before the graves were found but also is just messytm) talking about how the Romanovs survived.

But anyways so I’m arguing with this person and then it just devolves. The Romanov community has a huge antisemitism problem in some spheres and this person was just mad. I remember them saying the Russian Revolution was a Jewish conspiracy and just crazy stuff like that. (It was not in case anyone needed to hear that looking at you Putin).

I also have a Romanov YouTube tribute (I was fifteen it was cringey I know) for the 100th year anniversary that has about 583k views and I regularly have to just scrub the comments for the “EVIL COMMUNIST BASTARDS” comments. I even made a pinned post about people not putting racist dog whistles in my comments and some idiot got in a fight with me about it lmao.

There’s also a healthy (not healthy) subset that… I’m not gonna name publicly cause of personal reasons but lol… [redacted] is where Romanov history goes to die and I deeply deeply genuinely regret ever going into that sphere.
